I know they are only trials, but we have beaten both preliminary finalists from last year with at least 7 first choice players to come into the side for round 1

Shane Biriss looked in fantastic condition today too. He is my early tip for the clubs best and fairest.

no offence but i would think every club has at very least 7 first choice players out at this stage of the year.

Im not sure about that, I think Glenelg was only missing 1 against us last week (thats according to a post on that thread from a Bays supporter).

Maybe I am getting a little ahead of myself, but after 5 spoons and a 6th position last year, things are really looking up for the Bloods. A win against both prelim finalist is encouraging.

Take it from me, always take trial game form with a pinch of salt.

I only saw the last quarter but from that I thought it looked to be a pretty competitive trial. That being said, both coaches looked to be experimenting and rotating players off the bench feverishly...certainly if the two points were for up for grabs you wouldn't have seen the likes of Sheedy, Gum, Nelson, Kurtze, Crane and co sitting on the bench for the majority of the last quarter, nor would Thurstans, Fittock and Bowen been in the stands.

A trial match is just that and although West will be happy with the result, they will be all too aware that come the real stuff, Sturt will be a much tougher proposition. The Bloods and Blues will both be encouraged by yesterdays hit out.

Where have I said that? All I have said in that comment is we have beaten the prelim finalists from last year. Is that a correct statement?

I thought the Eagles had already won the Jan, Feb and March premiership. Westies can be runners up.

Yes, MST, West always find Sturt a very tough proposition, but I was pleased with the way we played.

Although Sturt had a few out and several sat out the last quarter, West had far more who sat out the whole game.

Fort Caruso, Nat Caruso, Travis Ronaldson, Jarrod Silvester, David Piasente and Chris Schmidt would be first-choice selections and although AFL players can't be counted, it's possible we'll have one or two of Matthew Lobbe, Jason Davenport and Scott Harding.

Allin all, our two games so far against near full-strength sides have been pleasing.
