Are Magpies & Power supposed different clubs ?

So what could stop Essendon making an approach to Westies and offering to look after some off their off field areas and in return open up a revenue base in SA ?

This would allow Essendon to have a team in the VFL, have ties with a NSW AFL team ( North Shores ), and ties with a SANFL team. Pretty handy having 3 states tied up one would think (not sure if they have a NT team nor a WA team already).

pretty sure essendon are also tied up with the Tiwi Bombers up in Darwin. would be an interesting concept having a teams around the country. might work something like pro baseball in the US

That's null and void because Melbourne are the natural and most obvious partners for Norwood.

How so? I would have thought any competition, of any sport, anywhere in the world needs one of its oldest and most successful clubs to remain part of the competition.

As long as there is an odd number of teams in the SANFL, any of the clubs could drop out without having any great effect. That a club was extant and successful since before federation counts for squat.

Quite frankly I don't want to see any of the SANFL clubs tainted by affiliation with an AFL team. I'll wait and see what transpires with the current event before I pass judgement, but I am wary that the result will be less than ideal.

I maybe incorrect, but the on field will stay as is.

I hope so Booney and I'd be all for it. I just fear that it may be the start of a series of small steps to a full merger of the 2.

I wonder if the other 8 clubs will consult their membership on their position in regards to the possible merger?

I cant see why the clubs would ask for the opinion of avergae Joe. Crikey, it would be like starting an on-line forum for SANFL fans to all have an opinion on, it would never work... 8)

What's with the new slogan, 'Celebrating 140 years?'. Aren't they the new team and the Power the old traditional creed-espousing team that's been around since year dot? They can't both be?? I guess some will argue they can? Aw my head hurts....send 'em both off to Tassie.

Inflected Form(s): ap·prised; ap·pris·ing
