I think the SANFL have made a pretty big error in this weeks programming with all games being played on Saturday at the same time Adelaide play Geelong. While the only "major" game in the SANFL will be Sturt/North, the Port/Central & Glenelg/Norwood games all have a good legion of fans and rivalries that would normally get punters along. If it's a wet arvo I'd think crowds will be down by 2000 at each of the games. I'll be at prospect regardless but alot wont.

unfortunately phanto, there are heaps who give a toss bag and will forego a local game to watch adelaide v geelong........thats just the way it is, whether you and i like it or not

A few weeks ago half the games were played on Sunday, when there were no Crows/Power games on in Adelaide during the day on Saturday. The SANFL draw has made little sense this year.

Despite a lot of people on this site not caring about the AFL or preferring to watch their SANFL team play than their AFL team (including myself), I'd expect some of these games to be affected by the AFL clash.

As there is required to be one game on Saturday, I would have thought Port play their home game then (as they would not care about clashing with the Crows), then play the others on Sunday. This is what has occurred in previous years, but hey, the SANFL fixturing is quite different to previous years.

My general rule for these types of clashes is:

I'll go to a Crows home game over a Centrals game
I'll go to a Centrals game over watching a Crows away game on TV

Ideally they would've shifted Norwood to Sunday but I'll IQ the Crows game and watch it when I get home from Glenelg.

Niether can I. And I'm a crows season ticket holder. I picked a loss against West over the Crows v Sydney game. People like me are in the minority though. Missed showdown too because a mate's daughter was having her 1st bday. So my weekend priorities run as follows:
Family/friends commitments 1st, Norwood 2nd, Crows 3rd, Gardening 4th. (i dont get much gardening done)

I'll do what NFC is doing. I'm not happy about it though.

Well after going to one AFL game live this year (Geelong v St Kilda) and seeing a SANFL game each week I can tell you what is the crap and what isn't.
Unless you're talking about the whole product (ie standing on hill with mates, as opposed to sitting in sterile Footy Park with morons), then I can see where you're coming from.
If I was going to watch the football alone this year AFL would be top of my list followed by Southern League, then followed by Ammos, then followed by Country football with the SANFL perhaps just sneaking in behind my son's Year 4/5 comp or I'd move to Melbourne and watch the VFL which from the few games Ive seen is much more attractive, similar to the SANFL of a few years ago.
Most SANFL teams are TRYING to play like AFL teams did 5 years ago and failing at it due to lack of skills.
Still defence wins premierships so Im told.

Instead of putting down a superior brand of footy to us we should be facing realities, and the reality is some clubs do lose a lot of fans to AFL matches that are live, best to plan around that. Personally I hate Sunday matches but have to admit there's a hell of a lot of footy players that come out Sundays to watch games which swells the crowds.

This is probably getting off subject but as you have raised it - yes I do think defence wins premierships. But to me defence is not flooding and it is not kicking backwards 50 metres. Good defence is what the doggies have build their successful teams around over the past 10 years and includes the ability for fast rebounding footy. Something which was lacking in the last quarter by the doggies resulting in a handy lead being surrendered and having to settle for a draw.

The Crows are good when they play psoitively. When they go into their shell and chip around in the back-lines they are woeful. I watched the Geelong Hawthorn game and thought that it was as good a game as I have seen for a while - 2 teams just going at it; quick movement of the ball; hard fair footy. Not all AFL is crap.
