The CLUB has to sit down and do a MAJOR self analysis. I believe that Clay has to stay, create stability rather than another change!

How can you not blame the coach??? ....he has to be accountable.

A MAJOR self analysis was done with the so called "Morris report"

Port were undermaned today and it was the perfect chance to capitalise on that.....we did not.

Yes, Cahill won at Alberton last year :?

A 59 point loss to the 2nd bottom side is just not acceptable IMO

FFS the team is showing signs of improvement, it is putting more and more competative football out each week.

You have no experience

Torney, Handby, Warren have experience I think

You are building a team around Boyd, Rolfe, Sandery, Redigolo, etc.

If you look at your team on paper you should be getting flogged. Your coach is trying to play good attacking football. Once these guys have played 100 games you will be hard to beat as long as the desire to get better is continued

Look at the top teams, in general half of the list has played 100 games.

Correct (Look at the well known players below in yellow, never heard of the kids yet)

Port 20.6.126

def

South 10.7.67

Port kicked the last 9 goals.

Goal Kickers
Port Adelaide Magpies: Perry 4, Beard 3, AhChee, Mardling 2, Elstone, Summerton, Meiklejohn, McInerney, Dolling, Hall, Milera, Perkins, Kirkwood 1.
South Adelaide: Splitt, Schimdt 2, Cockshell, Torney, Caudle, Warren, Rolfe, Farmer 1.R

Best Players
Port Adelaide Magpies : Murray, Summerton, Meiklejohn, Elstone, Perry, Young.
South Adelaide: Farmer, Williams, Sandery, Cockshell, Ryan, Thewlis

Give us a break, Clay Sampson has a very young list and with any coach it will take time, look at the port players and you wonder why ports on so well, 13 players named there in Ports are not bad footballers

Especially with a mediocre Reserves team then these guys are going to fill numbers as Seniors as of next Year
I am sure Glenelg and Port are happier with what they have coming to fill this area next year compared to South

Yes it would be great for souths to be sitting up near the top and having a large number of players in the state squad.

However it is not something whereby you flick the switch and it happens. Thus this is where south have the work to do within and they need to continue to focus on what needs to be acheived. The supporters should be more concerned with whether the club is trying to improve in this area because if they stop trying to improve they will be in trouble.

I am not sure that being in the state under 18 system actually means as much as one would think it would. It would be interesting to look at the locally bread SANFL players and see how many came up in the so-called elite pathway and how many have come up through the clubs development

Everyone has an opinion on what south should do and some south supporters seem to think giving Clay the flick will be a positive.Wake up! the bloke is still learning his trade and clearly does not have the cattle to work with!
Soujorner you like to try and compare Jack Cahill with Clay.Sure we started last season with a few wins but we copped a few beltings while he played some guys who were clearly recycled hacks. The second Clay come in he played more youngsters and we had two great wins against the bays and the roosters under "Clays" guidance!
Prendegast was a big loss for us and I am sure Travis Baird would be playing league for us if he were still here!
Cockshell has been a good pick up for us,but the other younger blokes we have recruited, and dont get me wrong I think they have the potential to be really good for us in the future, are not up to the level they need to be to be classed as decent league players!
There are a number of reasons why we are struggling and no one can simply say it is the fault of the coaching staff.
a) Some of the younger blokes who showed a glimpse of talent last season have not continued on with their form.
b) Some of the more senior players are not having the impact I envisaged they would.
c) Every team has injuries but the one player we cannot do without is Craig Parry.
d) The players we really needed to recruit,a ruckman a couple of ready to go hard nut midfielders and a key forward were not. Not easy to get I know but none the less needed!

The group of players we have are young and I agree with 40-50 league games under their belt they will improve, but how much they improve depends on how hard they are willing to push themselves and weather the coaching staff can get them as fit, strong and skilled as possible.
Then it comes down to ability!
I totally agree with clubs policy of promoting youth from our zones, but they cannot afford to be blinkered and not see some of the glaring deficiances in our team!!
The past month although losing, has been much better.Against port yesterday in the last quater and a half we were non existant, which is not acceptable.Players who do not have the capacity or fitness to run out a game should spend some time in the ressies.Port were missing a few good players so if ever we had a chance to knock them off it was yesterday!
Yes I am as _issed off as anyone about our poor season, but with the young team we have coupled with the lack of class players inour side you cannot expect miracles.
I do however expect improvment over the remaining games and a win would do the team the world of good and give them something to move on into next season!
Huge acid test against sturt at Noarlunga, and if we play even five miutes of poor footy we will get crucified!
