CENTRAL'S RESERVES:

From: Barmby, Brading, Christmann, Cochrane, Dunne, Foldesdy, Frail, Habel, Hannath, Hynes, Kelly, Matson, Menzel, Nason, Porter, Reichert, Slattery, Switala, Vater, White, Woodards.

CENTRAL'S UNDER 18's:

Adler, Appleton, Bellamy, Claughton, Coad, Fry, Galbraith, Gibson, Haydon, Head, Hill, Kerr, Koelar, Mansel, McKinnon, Ryan, Schiller, Spicer, Thomas, Trevena, White, Whitelaw, Williams, Wittwer.

Interesting that the Dogs league side made no changes this week, there would be a couple of reserves players pushing for selection that would have been hoping for a chance in the seniors this week. Still no Jonathon Griffin (not in the reserves either) so obviously struggling with the calf injury. I'd like to see a Luke Habel, Dave Allocca or even Ben Nason get an opportunity in the seniors but will just have to remian patient in the seconds.

Some Doggies fans are questioning Leigh Wethoff's spot in the side and whilst he hasn't set the world on fire so far this year, I think he is capable of good football in the league side and those that saw the game against Port at Alberton last season (where Daniel Havelberg kicked 9 goals and the Dogs won by 70 points) would have seen Leigh get best on ground. He was also in the initial State training squad and was unlucky to not make the final side.

Unfortunately he has had an arthritis issue in the foot which set him back for the latter half of last year and caused some delay and interruption to his pre season. From what I have seen of him, I think he has got better each week and hope that before Central get a few more senior players back from injury, Leigh can find the form of last year, make the most of his opportunities and cement his spot in the side.

Also, great to see young Daniel Menzel get an opportunity in the Dogs reserves after being amongst the better players for SA in the recent Under 18 National Championships. He has been dominating the Under 18’s for Central this year and last week, in a best on ground performance, had 36 disposals and kicked 4 goals in the Dogs win over Norwood. Good luck to the Golden Grove Football Club product if he makes the final 21 in the reserves.

a) Alloca not named in reserves.

b) What is this the 8th week in a row you have asked for Alloca to come up ?? Lets not turn him into another Ashley Duncan please BP.

c) so if players arent picked in the league squad they must remain patient in the reserves. Thanks for the info.

There was a Central team posted on here earlier but there has since been an adjusted team put on the Centrals web site, differing to that of the one club members get emailed to them.

So a couple of new changes for the Doggies line up now:

INTO 22: Ben Nason, Luke Habel

OUT: Matthew Westhoff (Power) + 1 to drop out from the extended interchange bench

The team on the web site has a couple of changes to it with Matthew Westhoff dropping out (assuming he is either playing for the Power now or will be travelling emergency), therefore Ricky Henderson comes out of a pocket and replaces Westy at CHF, while his brother Leigh Westhoff comes off the bench and starts on the wing pushing Kyle Jenner up into a forward pocket. A couple of impreesive inclusions into the squad in Ben Nason and Luke Habel and both will make their well deserved league debut if they make the final cut.

The dread-locked former Port Magpie in Ben Nason comes into an extended interchange bench along with the impressive Luke Habel, from Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong (GGGM) in the southern NSW Riverina Football League. Luke has been in supreme form in the seconds all year and would deserve his league debut, while Ben Nason missed a couple of weeks with injury, but is an exciting, talented youngster who has pace and can kick a goal. Good luck to either (or both) of these boys if they do get their opporunity at a higher level.

Good to see some stability at the Dogs, more players coming back then going out. Surprised that Richie Cochrane is still in the ressies, maybe this is because he didn't play a single game in the pre season and then re-did the same injury not long after resuming.

On Leigh Westoff, he has so much potential, his a beautiful kick, good mark, finds plenty of space, kicks goals. Unfortunatly his one downful is that at crucial times i feel he shirks the issue. He lost his spot in the team a couple of seasons ago after "ducking" his head a couple teams in marking contests against North in a night match. A coach like Roy Laird won't accept players who "pull out" of contests but he has been given Leigh a big chance to play a part in the league squad this year so hopefully he takes it.

A future center line for the Dogs in years to come could look like '
L.Westoff S.Dutschke B.O'Hara
Quality.

Would love to see Nason or Habel get a game in the league side, i don't think there ready to be league regulars yet but both have lots of potential and are very very very exciting to watch especially Nason.

a) - Fair enough, my mistake ( ) for not noticing Dave Allocca absence from the reserves side this week, I just glanced over it when I first saw it. I was in Waikerie last weekend and missed the Central v Norwood game but have since read elsewhere that Allocca came off late in the reserves game last week clutching the back of his leg. I guess there would be a few Doggies fans hoping he is only missing from the ressies side this week due to injury and not that he has decided to leave the club due to lack of opportunity at league level, as many have done out at Elizabeth in the past.

b) - No, it is not the 8th week in a row I have been pushing Allocca for promotion, it's actually only the 7th week ( ;) ) and I am not the only Doggies fan who is keen to see him given an opportunity at a higher level. Also, look what happen with Ash Duncan when he did end up getting his opportunity at league level, ( prior to injuring the hammy against Port in his 2nd game of course :( ) he came into the side and held his own, even kicked a goal on debut with his first kick in league football. Don't worry though, there wont be any repeats of the Ash Duncan 'thing' I had with Dave Allocca, it's all good.

c) - Yep, no worries, granted  Pretty obvious thing to say I know, I take it back if it makes you happy :D

Yeah, that's right d4e, there was an amended team that came out after the Power took Matthew Westhoff out of the line up, assumingly to travel as an emergency to Melbourne on Sunday.

As I mentioned above, Luke Habel and Ben Nason come into the extended squad with Westhoff dropping out and there were a few positional adjustments to the initial side as well.

Wondering with Westoff and Pettigrew will they come in for both sides if they aren't named for the power or are the power going to take all three players that dont make the side over to melbourne.

No no you got it wrong, Shannon's expected to man both goalfronts at the same time :D

Either that or pram lady will be the other goal umpire

I think th weather out there today will make this a closer, scrappier game than many have predicted...

I'm of course looking forward to the Westies BBQ and hopefully a good game of footy in what wil probably be average conditions...

Adjusted my tip slightly, Doggies by 4 goals now...
