Better than the 1979 squad of Motley, Bradley Kernahan, et al????
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

It's half time over in Sydney and the State Under 16's boys seem to have themselves a comfy 5 goal lead...

South Australia - 8.3 = 51
Victoria Metro - 3.3 = 21

Unlike Saturday's game against WA, let's hope the boys don't fade in the 2nd half and let the Vics back in it...

If they can finish top 2 for the carnival, the boys will get the privelage of playing a curtain raiser game to this years AFL Grand Final...

Now the results of this competition could be the real argument for under 16's rather than under 17's.

It certainly would have made it easier to pick the side. These players would have also developed in important roles for there club rather than sitting on flanks in under 17's like they have in the past.

And then they disappeared back to local footy, then some are brought back in for next weeks U17 carnival, then they go back to their local clubs again to see out the season. Excellent idea that one... Hopefully next year the 16's are a full season.

Do you have a full time score BP?

Just thought I'd give a quick thought as to our boys chances against vic country based on what we've seen so far in the 2 games played to date. Our midfield needs to improve and not be so one dimensional and we need to find a key forward to actually win this game. The vics are a big unit and we need to play smart. If we don't get off to a good start as per our first 2 games we will struggle. Lets hope that we can get over the line. Good luck to the boys. Will give a summary for the folks back home after the game. Looks like it may rain even more so that might make it difficult.

Will there be any changes to the side for this game Sonofa ?

My nephew Jake was left out of the side against Vic Metro and know he can play a key forward role, is he a chance to come back into the side ?

All 25 play today as it is a dead rubber. Weather permitting these 2 teams will play before the TAC cup on GF day at MCG. Raining yesterday and today which may help our boys. Will summarize week after the game for those interested. Game starts at 12.30

As I have mentioned a couple of times on this particular thread, my nephew is Jake Hazeal, why do you ask ca ?

Does anyone know how the boys are going in their game against the Nathan Buckley coached Victoria Country side ?

SA beaten by Vic Country by 8 goals in the end 13 goals to 5. Just too big and strong today. Thought the wet conditions would have had the teams closer together. Bit of an anti climax in a way. We tried hard but without an effective key forward or effective crumbing rover with pace we struggled to win around the packs. Rucks also were not a strong point during the week. The lads that played well early in the week in the dry struggled and I would say fatigue set in.

Hindsight is wonderful, but concensus amongst onlookers and fellow scouts here said it is hard to understand why the best full forward (norwood) and rover (sturt) in the 16's comp in SA could not get a game in the team after seeing those selected perform this week. There was a definate lack of pace and variety from a midfield of one dimensional 6 footers. When you look at the week overall - 2 very good first quarters in the first 2 games got the results there and the other 6 quarters were even or lost on the score board. None of this is critisism, just observation. I have no involvement or any interest in any kid playing. I have been here watching the 16's after seeing my nephew in the 18's last week in melbourne.

The boys did well and good luck to them for the return game in september.

Big phil young Jake did ok, battled hard against the odds kicked a goal.

Who cares what Rendell says about kids at this age. As we all know lots happens to them in life over the next 2 years and priorities change. You could say 5-7 other kids could have been there as well. That is what is gr8 about our game in that we all have opinions. Mine have been formed over watching 35 years of all grades and forms of footy. I do it for pure enjoyment, he does it for a living.

Intersting that I heard a press conference with Nathan Buckley after and he thought B Phillips was the coach of SA. So much for respecting the oppositon !!!!
