Very very disappointed in them today
Million $$$$ First half playing dymnamic footy
3rd qtr they appeared to concentrate on stopping PA
In my opinion had they just continued on in the 2nd half as they did earlier they would have won by 40+ pointsdedja wrote:redandblack wrote:Interesting write-up on two fronts in today's paper. Tim Ginever said the first half was the worst they've played in 12 months, thus joining a list of opposition people saying it was their bad play, not West's good play. It's getting to be an enjoyable habit to read this.
Good point this ... Westies 2nd quarter against the Bays earlier this year was very good footy and so obviously they have improved a fair way this year, which I think is great for the competition.
I think the type of disrespect that Timmy has shown with this statement is poor form ... one of the things I respect most about Mark Mickan is his humility and the fact he never takes the opposition for granted and always pays them their dues.
Whats the fifference between mal's comments & those of red&black or dedja?
1 Million $$$ first half to West & no credit to Ports 2nd half effort?
Timmy thinks their 1st half was their worst footy in 12mths & no credit to West.
To me its no different some people just cannot give credit when & where its due, i was at the game & West were terrific with their disposal & use of the ball in the first half compared to Port who were consistantly turning the ball over especially by foot. ( even under no pressure )
Ports 2nd half was alot better & it wasn't that West played bad Port didn't allow them the space they had in the first qtr & Ports kicking for goal was like the way they kicked to team-mates in the first half, (disgracefull)
West deserved the win so be it.
Good call N/MERCY
The way I saw it
1st half
WA played brilliantly, PA just could not keep up
The umpiring in the 2nd qtr was abysMAL and WA benefited greatly
It was not PA playing badly it was a case WA playing very well
3rd qtr
WA for whatever reasons played defensively in the 3rd qtr
The pace of the game dropped off as the match become more of a stop start affair
This allowed PA to get back into the game
To PAs credit they played very well to get back into the match
The umpiring evened up as PA seemed to get some 50/50 frees this qtr
lastqtr
Could have gone either way
Both teams can be proud of thier commitment
summary
WA must learn to put away teams
PA must learn how to win tight games, too often they give sides starts , catch them and not pip them
