I must admit when I read his comments I thought ignorance at best - dumb at worst. Unfortunately for him though ignorance (or dumbness) is no excuse for the law.

sub judice

In law, sub judice, Latin for "under judgment," means that a particular case or matter is currently under trial or being considered by a judge or court.

In England and Wales, New Zealand, Australia, India, Pakistan and Canada it is generally considered inappropriate to comment publicly on cases sub judice, which can be an offence in itself, leading to contempt of court proceedings. This is particularly true in criminal cases, where publicly discussing cases sub judice may constitute interference with due process.

Therefore, what he has done is, he has practically ensured that Shirley has to get off.

Since when was a football tribunal hearing a court? Getting a bit ahead of ourselves aren't we?

Have you never been to one? Trust me they are every bit a court. The one I was involved in the Commisioner was a lawyer and he ran it just like a court room.

I can understand the feeling on this forum in regard to the fact that this was a 'good result' because it has obviously given the SANFL a great deal more exposure. I just hold the feeling that, whether the incident is right or wrong, it means that opposition players are open to criticism by opposition coaches from now on.

It could provide some humour in the short term but longer term I think it may cause some problems.

Is it right that coaches can openly question incidents during the game and call players into question because of it? In this case its fine because the player has been found guilty but in a situation where a player has been found not guilty?

Anyway, just my take for what it is worth!
