SANFL U20 STATE TEAM ANNOUNCED
The SANFL wishes to announce the SANFL U20 State Team.

The U20s will play the McDonald’s State U18s in the State Youth Match at Prospect Oval this Saturday (May 23) at 2pm.

Not a bad side there and certainly a few players with plenty of league experience, even a League premiership player in Sammy Fairclough. The bigger names in that side include league regulars James Boyd, John McDonald, Matthew Jaensch, Thomas Dunne and Fairclough as mentioned. I think there are bout a dozen guys listed above that have played league at some stage, the rest no doubt in the reserves competition.

Keep an eye out on young Ben Nason from Centrals. He is not hard to miss with the big mop of blonde dreadlocks, he has been very impressive in the Centrals reserves side this year after crossing over from Port Magpies. I believe he has had a bit of interest shown in from a couple of AFL clubs as well. Pretty good looking side that.

This squad will participate in the upcoming NAB AFL U18 National Championships.

Some pretty impressive talent in this years squad and with the new formatted Under 18's competition, no doubt Brenton Phillips and the SANFl will be hoping for a much improved performance at the upcoming State Championship.

I reckon I counted 5 or 6 guys with League experience and I'd say most of the rest have had some tatse of senior football in reserves level as well. This can only be a good thing in the sense the young lads have played against bigger and stronger bodies.

Good luck to the boys for the carnival, I look forward to catching some of their game this weekend in Perth against Western Australia.
