Although I did vote against it, I sent a letter to the club qualifying my position to state that I am not opposed to the club bringing back a specific Heritage Guernsey to be used as a Clash Guernsey against Norwood or Westies at their home grounds. The Geelong style Guernsey is our original Guernsey and if it stays to the original design I would be quite happy to see it brought out in those clash situations.

Totally opposed to the name change for obvious reasons predominantly because I cant see that a change like that has any actual benefit to increasing the standard of the way the side plays which needs to be the focus for change not anything else.

South have three Guernseys used, the current crossed over SA Guernsey, prior we had one with the S and the A next to each other in a scripted style which looked great and we had the Geelong Guernsey prior to that. The colours have always been Blue and White and we have only ever had the Panther as our logo. The name South Adelaide is an interesting one as we initially played at Kensington, yet we have always represted the South of Adelaide and I hope it stays that way.

Still if they are going to focus on the name Panthers, then I hope they consider renaming Hickinbotham Oval to Panther Park as I think that would be great to see back again!

South Adelaide website says 'a vote was taken by the members' as Sojourner says above, he as a member voted against it,
Yet, I haven't heard one South Adelaide/Panthers supporter say they like the change.

I wonder what the actual vote count was ??

Im a member and I voted against it!!!

It will always be South Adelaide to me till the day I die. It will always be spoken by me as "South Adelaide"....end of story.

It's a club that is based in the "South" of Adelaide where people can identify with.

I think it is very sad sign of the times to see the name change (very Americanised!!!)

It does not sit well with me anyway.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

One thing that i fail to understand in regards to this matter is the underlying reason as to why a change was important. In all honesty has a change of name ever taken a team from second to bottom to top? I cannot for the life of me understand why the club would even bother thinking about it as it is obviously evident there are more pressing issues, ie. winning games....

They were still a rabble as the W Bulldogs for a reasonable amount of time. It helped that they picked up Griffin and Cooney through very draft picks.

Adelaide Hawk, any jumper changed has to approved by a members vote, this has not been given. The club is looking aternative strip for away games next year subject to end of year AGM meeting and vote by members. The club is still, and unless voted by members, will always be South Adelaide FC the emphasis is on the Panthers to attract to youth which we have in numbers in our metro area. To me, no big deal, however an alternative jumper change is big deal to which i will be voting a definate no!

Jumper change/name change, whatever. I am just happy the lads had a win on the weekend and brought a smile to my face. Any win is a good win and Clay Sampson seems to be doing the right things down there.
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

What about "Southern Panthers"? Seems to me that there has been a lot of talk re embracing the Southern suburbs to the club, so why remove any link to the South in the name?

Maybe we should South Adelaide's biggest supporter M. Rann to go down there and tell them to keep it as it has always been - South Adelaide.
