Centrals are a passing fad, with their success happening during a time when the real SANFL Powerhouses were languishing, both due to mismanagement, lack of finances or both. Equalibrium is now returning, with these clubs, Port, Norwood, Sturt, Glenelg, North, and now Central District returning to regular finals action.
There are 2 types of football supporters. Those who barrack for Port Adelaide, and those who wish they could.
Funny you should talk about not being able to beat those "powerhouse clubs" what about this year? What happened to Port in the 2000 QF? 2005 2SF? Hell, if Port couldn't get within 10 goals of us in the 2001 and 2005 Preliminaries, I suppose you would still believe that Port would have won in the Grand Finals of those years anyway? Sounds like you are a bit jealous about the current success - it's either this or the "you couldn't do it pre Crows" line. Interesting that these so called barbs seem to come from Port and Norwood fans - not everyone, those who say it.

Jealous, you call me jealous? Well let me tell you something.... BLOODY OATH! Other clubs are occupying the position that Port Adelaide has earned over decades of achievement.
But let's not go back to 2000-05 because I've covered that previously. "My Club" was a basket case, doing what it had to, to survive; pulling money out of junior development, an influx of interstate recruits (revolving door), appointing Jack Cahill... But that was then and this is now, and as I already said, you've had enjoyment in sinking in the boot, and in 2009 that boot is going to be on our foot.
Serious wishful thinking by Topsywaldron
1. Centrals are still in the competition- *So what, they couldn't beat us when the competition really meant something, and would LOVE the chance to do it now. And we'd LOVE to give them the opportunity.
2. Hamstrung by finances that doesn't allow them to compete with Norwood and North for recruits.- *Norwood? You're kidding! Got a clubroom yet? And I've already mentioned Junior Development.
3. A lack of pace through the midfield.- *Being addressed, as per the latest CEO report.
4. Too reliant on an elderly forward line with limited goal kicking power. -*Hmmm, let's see, that elderly forward came second in the goalkicking last season. But now he's gone, we only have Clive, Brad Mercer, Jordan Barham and (to be announced) to rely on.
5. Ginever still seen by many to be a one dimensional and unprofessional coach- *At best, clutching at straws. At worst, bordering on slander? I thought you were better than that.
6. Jeremy Clayton not getting any younger or less injury prone- *Still the best player in the competition, regardless of what the umpires say.
7. Matthew Lokan. Enough said.- *Yeah, you're right, he soooo wouldn't get a game in any other side.
8. The shattering loss of 'winning aura' that happened in 1998- *We also won in '99 (Remember that one?)
Need any more?
How about Norwood won't get handed any more key forwards (Taylor Walker) by the Cows.

Which noted recruit to the SANFL was greeted by Ginever at Alberton Oval with the question "so what position do you play then?"
Cue star midfielder walking out of the room.
Let's hope it's not slanderous to say I hope Ginever stays for years.
PS Lokan IS a hack and no, he wouldn't get a game for us.
