One would have thought that there would be better rucking prospects for the panthers to recruit than a 30 year old returning to the club after a couple of years off ???

Surely they would be better off blooding a youngster from the ressies or bringing in some local talent from down in South's zone...

bp, i understand what your saying but this bloke is a very good player & there isn't many very good ruckmen going around & he has committed to the club which will help parry & leave prendeghast (not sure of the spelling) in a key position & not having to ruck, if you were old enough bp you'd know this bloke is a very good player

Bayman,

With all due respect to what you are saying...

You have got to be kidding me right ???

No disrespect to Mark Bradley, but if there isn't a better, younger ruckman that South could find NATIONALLY then something is wrong...

And Bayman, I remember seeing "The Chief" play, I remember him from the early to mid 2000's, he was a big hunk of a lad. I am 27 and have been going to SANFL games since 1995 so I think I would remember him mate. I will hold my final judgement call on his recruiting until we see him play. Certainly older and bigger ruckman have a place in this league (some guy called Buckets Mackenzie won a Jack Oatey last week) but it seems a pretty big risk on South's part, especially considering he hasn't played for a few years...

Cheers,

BP

Prendergast is returning to melbourne for family reasons next season, with the clubs' blessing.
He would certainly would have scored 3 votes for his BOG performance at the Knuckey Cup on Saturday night!!!

Baby daughter has health issues, about 3 months old, wifes family is in Vic and she is in need of their support at the moment, sad really, cos if you got yourself in the poo, then prenders would be good value for money, even if you did follow the 'Bays'

Did south activly chase him or did he return? Either way a bradley, parry duo in ruck should prove a good option i recon, and should serve as one of the best combo's in the league. Having said that, it is important to remember that a lot can change in two years, especially if sometime was taken off. Good on him though, obviously has some passion for the club.

Prenders is a top bloke. Always was a favourite when he was at Carlton. Hopefully he goes back and plays for the Bullants.....
