The real clubs won't have anything too worry about according to the cows chief and you. 4000 people each week will turn up to watch the cows, and you think only 1000 members will drop out.

Ditto.

I'll likely take some note of results, but won't be going to games anymore, wouldn't know what I was looking at... definitely not the SANFL.

Everybody(except Port supporters)knows that the shit going on today was started by Port in 1990.
And yes, I do expect to get howled down by Port supporters.

No howling. Very happy that my club showed vision and foresight to look at the big picture.

That Norwood supporters are upset because their club didn't say YES quickly enough is simply a bonus.

You make it look like the AFL was never going to come to SA

You make it look like the AFL is something more than just a rebranded Victorian Football League

I 100% agree with you whufc. The national controlling body had been trying unsuccessfully for years to create a proper Australian competition, hence the N in SANFL.

Were it not broke there would be no VFL expansion competition. But once they created a presence in NSW, WA and QLD, there was no going back.

The VFL even changed to AFL as a final inducement to get an SA entry. For the "old boys club" at West Lakes to continue holding out for "better conditions" via a stupid retention scheme was simply pig- headed. All that did was create a fantastic super fund for a bunch of players, McIntosh, Aish, etc. who were never going to leave anyway.

Port Adelaide clearly demonstrated that better entry conditions could be put in place if you negotiated properly.

Id place my money on the round 1 opener being Norwood v Port on a Friday Night.
Is the Williams/Gallagher Cup still up for grabs or is that gone now the Maggies are dead?
