Adelaide crows players & SANFL finals

Postby the joker » Fri Aug 30, 2013 10:24 pm

This year is different than any other year for allowing players to play Finals at their local club.
AFL players need to get at least 8 weeks off after their final game of footy either AFL or SANFL. With all crows players playing for their reserves side next year. They will probably say no player is available after their AFL season is over. So they can get back and start Pre season ASAP.
So the likes of Johnston, Grigg, petrenko, callinan, Dowdell, porplyzia and Ellis Yolman who have all qualified wont play. When some have played all or a majority at SANFL level
I love vegatarian food. It goes great with steak.

No, it's not different to any other year on this issue. Since at least 2006, the AFL players award has guaranteed them a minimum amount of annual leave. And like any other year, Crows' players first day back at work in 2013/14 will be the start of pre-season training at the Crows. So presumably we'll get the same array of inconsistent decisions, some players choosing not to play etc as in any other year.

So far as there's been any rule of thumb you can work out over the years, it's been the younger the player, the more likely they are to be released (and to want to play). At least on player preference, you'd expect that whether they are home-grown at the SANFL club or came through the mini-draft has an impact too.
