Suburban Ground Finals from 2014

Postby Wedgie » Sun Mar 31, 2013 7:54 am

Chris Davies advised yesterday on the ABC that all finals except for the GF would be played at suburban grounds next year onwards.
Grand Final to be played at the new Adelaide Oval.
I wonder this is announcement (although good for the game IMHO) is already conceding we wont have ABC coverage next year?
Hopefully we still will with all finals being covered.

Neutral suburban grounds
OR
specific suburban grounds
OR
home ground of higher ranked participant?

By what was in the paper, it would be the highest raked team. I don't know what they are going to do with reserves and u18s will they have the reserves/u18s as the lead up game.

Would be run just like they do in the SAAFL, WAFL do the same and no problems with change rooms either.

People need to stop jumping at shadows with this one. The winner will be the clubs and football, better than an half empty stadium with tarps.

SAAFL started home finals in 2004 and it has been a huge winner and bets thing to happen to the SAAFL in years. Yes there was resistance from the old guard and clubs which got neutral finals every year but everyone looked at the big picture and we wouldn't have it any other way now.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Nothing better than earning the right to host and playing in a home final. I'm sure most SANFL players would love to play finals at their home ground.

Provided the SANFL stump up the cash, TV coverage will continue next year and it might even be better for the League with a couple of the commercial channels considering taking it on.

Do the SANFL pay to get their games covered by the ABC?

How much?

Ha! They'd only be interested in covering the games featuring hypothetical AFL reserves teams.
