I had 19 on the back of my first guernsey as a 5/6 yo. I suppose this time had to come at some point but you always think these guys are indestructible.

Best wishes Flash.

Oh no. The Flash. Absolute champion, one of the best Sturt players I have ever seen. Always wish he'd played for us. :(

I absolutely xxxxing hated that guy as a player. He single handedly kicked my team out of at least two finals we could have won in the 70's.
One of the best Sturt players I have seen just behind the likes of Bagshaw and Davies.
Go for it Flash hang in there !

x2, all the best Michael, use the same grit you showed as a player and hang in there, and all that speed in your recovery.

The Club sadly can confirm that Michael Graham suffered a heart attack last week and is in the Royal Darwin Hospital. He is in an induced coma and further tests are being carried out today (Monday) to assess the damage to his heart. Michael's family had requested privacy in the hope that the weekend would see an improvement in his condition but now that the story is in the public domain they wish for the club to present an update. This is all the information we have at the present time. We will keep all members posted so there is no need to contact the club for additional information. It goes without saying that all of our thoughts are with Michael's family and close friends during this difficult time - and we hope that his fighting spirit will see him pull through what is undoubtedly his biggest challenge yet!

Good news about his recovery.

Just watched some highlights on youtube of him and the matches against the other BIG FOUR clubs
Damm he was fast didn't really realise back then as a youngster.

Would have left some of today's speedsters for dead.

Quite a few other players would do the same to today's players.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

No one would have beaten that West Adelaide side of 1983. Strangely West did not even make the finals in 1984.

Neither did Sturt. Was at the last minor game in 1984 at Richmond between the two clubs. Was supposed to be Kerley's last game ever as coach. Westies just got up I think from memory.

Thanks Phil.
My favourite player as s youngster. Him and Rick Davies of course. I always thought he never got tur recognition he deserved when he stopped playing SANFL. He broke his leg playing for St Marys during our off season, I think it was 1984 or 85. Too old to make a come back from an event like that so late in his career, so he never got the fan fare of his final match etc. Still, the papers overlooked the significance at the time.
Just look on YouTube now, man was as swift as the wind, could kick the ball a mile and land it on a handkerchief, step around opponents as though they were cones.
Congratulations on the recovery Flash.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail
