Possible mature age players to play AFL 2013?

The one person who would be annoyed about Kurt leaving the most would be his brother. The crows were looking at him but after that, they will not go near another Tippett

Goldsworthy may be the only other one, thought he had a reasonable year. Would probably be his last chance.

Will be interesting to see how many 21+ age players get picked up this year. Most mature age picks over the last couple of years have acquitted themselves pretty well, so will be interesting to see whether this becomes part of recruiting or only been temporary because of the expansion teams and the next two years drafts supposedly being pretty strong.

Sumner will go for sure. The only question mark some clubs might have is his attitude which led to him leaving Sydney.

Can't see Goldsworthy getting picked up. I think the main thing holding him back is he would be a bit too slow to play as a midfielder or small forward in the AFL. This a bit of a shame for him because is a great kick, has footy smarts and is a pretty decent overhead mark for his size. I thought he started becoming a bit more consistent for us this year and I think if he has a big pre-season to improve his fitness base that he has the ability to become one of our main midfielders next season

There are 2 Sumner's playing for the Eagles. People have to say which one when posting or it gets confusing.

But it was mentioned about spending time with the Sydney Swans, which Byron did, so it is easy to work that one out...

Plus, as you would know, Tim is only an Under 18's player so he would not be considered in a thread for 'mature age' recruits...

Younger brother Tim will be drafted, no doubt, but he'll have 3 weeks left of a 4 week suspension to serve, first...

Can't agree with that, I reckon he was a very successful selection for the Crows.

Nutta did play well against the 'lesser' clubs but did have a pretty good year overall. Agreed, he certainly was below par in the finals, but he will be better for the experience...

I think SDK hasn't forgiven Ian for his bump on Flippa in the 2010 GF and holds a grudge, still ;)

Back to the topic at hand...

I hope someone like Mitch Clisby and Daniel Caire are picked up, they both have huge upside as running half backs...

I reckon Callinan showed regularly throughout the season that his skills are superior to many opposition.
The finals experience will be great for him.

He still did a couple of pretty skillfull things late in the prelim when things were hectic that other small forwards may not have been able to do.

Just on that, the small forward role that he plays is one of the hardest to get into the game when your team is being beaten in the midfield and/or instructed to go to the big forwards & they are clunking marks. You have to rely on too many other blokes doing things one way or the other before you get a look in.
You either have a day out or find it hard to get clean possessions.
Well... thats my experience anyway.
Yeah, Naah,..... Bollocks!

Agreed, not bad for an elevated rookie, but poor finals.

Averaged 8 kicks v Tippett 8.4, 4.6 hb v 3.8, marks 3.1 v 5, Tackles 1.5 both averaged and both kicked 39 goals with Tippett averaging 1.9 v Callinan 1.7 (played two more games). And I reckon Tippett had more hit outs.
From a selfish perspective, he was a massive loss to us this year.

Get on the Crows board with all this nonsense please, we've got Simon Phillips SANFL premiership medal to discuss.

A bit off topic, but that's how I saw Goldy's season too, and was opne of the positives for us this year, as well as Hall's second half, but they are still a rung below our top midfielders of the last few years and we really them to step up next year.

Callinan kicked quite a few goals this year from limited chances. dont forget kurt and taylor took alot of marks in forward 50. finals were disapointing but he is not the only one in that boat.
