I must say, I have been impressed by North's presence amongst the fans over the first 2 weeks of finals...

Plenty of voice and red and white, particularly on the outer side wing...

Then there were a few chook heads behind the goals as well !!!

As Phil H said last night on 5AA, if it is a Norwood/West GF there will be ZERO neutrals turning up, however if North make it through I reckon we will get a bumper crowd.

One thing noticed this week was that there were 3000 more at the game with Norwood playing instead of the Eagles.
Weird too as according to the stats Phil H has been giving us all year the Eagles have more supporters than Collingwood!

Too right we have more supporters than Collingwood at games (well VFL games at least :D )

More than happy to conceed Norwood have a much bigger supporter base than the Eagles, I think they have the biggest supporter base in the SANFL, at least that turns up.

They have the highest home crowds in the league and a membership over 3,000. Kudos to them. Only Port could possibly catch them if the Magpies hit form but ONE PORT hasn't helped their crowds as yet.

Funny you make comparisons because if you look at the last two semi final weekends

2011 - Norwood, Central, Eagles & South - 11,443

2012 - Norwood, Central, North & West -10,284

Same event (semi final Sunday), same venue, similar weather so by your logic does that mean that the Eagles & South combined have a greater following than North & West combined?

;)

I think you will also find that regardless of teams participating the semi final weekend always attract more patrons that the first week of finals that tend to get caught up in the Royal Show and occassionally AFL home finals.

2011 - 11,443 up from 9,192 ( up 2,251 )
2010 - 13,162 up from 11,449 ( up 1,713 )
2009 - 14.207 up from 10,192 ( up 4,015)
2008 - 22,568 up from 15,825 (up 6,743)
2007 - 14,764 up from 11,487 (up 3,277)

Dont have to convince me Phil, I reckon you should move your home games to the MCG! ;)

This week should see a crap crowd but lets hope for the GFs sake North win.

Rumour has it that a North supporter who posts on here is off to Phuket today aa he thought he'd have no footy to go to at this time of year.

Most major crowd records in SA have involved the Stur/Port combination ie. Largest minor round attendance 1988 double header Sturt vs Port ( over 38,000) largest Adelaide Oval crowd Sturt vs Port 1966 ( over, 60,000) largest football crowd 1976 grand final Sturt vs Port (Football Park over 66,000) . I am pleased to add that Sturt won all those matches.
Post Power crowd records also involved Sturt and Port.
Norwood hold the crowd record for the Parade only so far as I know.
Case rested.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

If you go back a little further there was a Port vs Norwood match that brought over 57,000 to Adelaide Oval in the late 1950s - I was there.
Later Sturt played some other team in a match that got about 62,000 IIRC.

Was against home finals a few years ago but it seems the crowds are in decline at Footy Park. Perhaps only Grand Finals should be staged there until Adelaide Oval is ready. Would like to see the current format trialled at Adelaide Oval in 2014, but perhaps next year they could try finals at the home ground of the highest placed team. Under 10,000 at Footy Park is not a great atmosphere and not many hang around for both games anyway.

When will the league and clubs get their heads out of their ass and move all finals bar gf to local grounds. I'm never going to a SANFL game at aami again .... It's the worst experience ..... Made even worse when Collins is coaching.

Speaking of that numbskull, if west loose another $150k odd again, are they still going to pay the bloke more than any other coach in the league, while they watch their home game crowds plummet because he is boring the socks of people.

Bring in mickan, please. I'm never going to Richmond again will that little man is in charge ... Unless it's a home final v south!

Go roosters!
