Well unless the ambulance dealt with more than one patron (possible), the person whom the ambulance and police spoke to (adjacent to the RSL entrance) declined ambulance assistance and left walking through the entrance at the north western corner. That person did not appear to have any injury that I could see (such as bleeding), was quite coherent and did appear to be on his own. I hope he or anyone else is not injured as described previously.

the incident Ian initially describes was in front of the "old" grandstand (the glass taj...), not the RSL. maybe the person you saw being spoken to was one of the victims mates?

i now retract my retraction....

Which is as far as the ambulance could get. I will stress that I did not see the incident. I saw the ensuing verbal barrage adjacent the stairs to the RSL/toilets. The person spoken to by the police and the ambulance had come from the area in front of the grandstand. I understand that medical staff from both clubs attended and were fearful that he had fractured his skull. The person whom I saw may or may not have been the victim. No one left in the ambulance but this does not mean he was not injured.
