Well done Norwood but as mentioned some quality out for Centrals . They do seem to get injuries at the right time .

Was the crowd at the game between old foes, port and sturt, acceptable HP? It was a beautiful day, enormous rivalry, port off a great win etc.

Not sure what it has to do with Sturt but I thought the crowd was more than officially stated but that's all we can go off . So going off that number I thought we'd get more .

I couldn't go to the game due to work, the game was worth 4-5000 minimum, so I'd say that the attendance was poor. I talked to a club official the night before at a mates place, we all were discussing the possible crowd and they expected at least 4000. Everybody thinks the Port wagon is up and running but maybe it's taking a while for them to get on board, the same goes for Sturt but I don't know what the break up was like.

That's not a criticism, but I don't recall Central ever having that many supporters and so during the period 1964-1994 say, when the club had the chance to build a supporter base, it wasn't able to due to onfield performances being so-so.

Then the league took a hit with the AFL and so the opportunity was lost...
It is a core principle of business.
If you make a good product people buy and if you dish up rubbish they walk away, though it may take them a while to wise up and do so.
Obviously, some posters believe you should pay for whatever the team you have followed chooses to serve up as if it is some form of tribal obligation of loyalty.

I'm not the tribal/group-driven type..
Lose interest in delivering a good product and I start to lose interest in your product.

I guess that I don't see my football club as just simply a commercial product. I see them as part of my lifeblood, something that I would die for and will follow them through thick and thin. However, if you want to go swapping clubs every season to that season's premier because they have dished up a 'superior product' that year, please go ahead and do so. Just don't call yourself a club supporter of any kind!

Totally agree bulldogproud2.
I follow Norwood not some marketing trend related to a product or results !!!
I supported Norwood when they were rock bottom and I enjoyed and celebrated the success when it came.
I expect to again celebrate the ultimate success very soon but if not I will still be there no matter what.

Whether it be Norwood, Centrals, Sturt or who ever SUPPORTERS support their club regardless of where they are on the ladder. That is what makes SANFL football so great.

TV game doesnt help either. Playing at Unley where you have limited space on the outer wing to watch doesnt help either.

Well done to Norwood.

I wasn't advocating swapping allegiance to another club, but I'm not a blind supporter of any organisation.
To keep my support the club I follow, or any other group I'm involved in, needs to be making a real effort, not just coasting along.

I "supported" my club by attending, and as a member, from about 1956 to 1968, and from Melbourne, from 1998 to 2008, by taking Internet Membership while they offered it.
I've followed the same club, even when not "supporting" them, but didn't think the product warranted rejoining when I came back to Adelaide in 2009.
This year, now that they are making a real effort to deliver a good standard, I've rejoined, and plan to get to some matches when I can.

Having also seen a comment on this in today's Sunday Mail report, it had me curious how many of our players last night played in the 2010 match.
To my reckoning, nine players featured in both matches.

In Rob Laidlaw's match report he also noted we only had eleven players from last years Grand Final side.

Top post mate .. The people at our clubs are also "mates" and everyday folk, not part of a product in my eyes.

You can't fit everything in so you have to make choices on some basis, and weigh up the net worth.
