Composition of SANFL lists

All discussions to do with the SANFL

I have crunched the numbers and one interesting fact is that only 11 players played SANFL last week who had been recruited here to SA from interstate by the Crows or Port and are still on their list. All of the others listed came from SANFL clubs to begin with.

Port (2) and Sturt (4) had the fewest interstate recruits. West (11) then Norwood & Centrals (8) have the most.
Sturt & North had 6 players from other SA clubs while Bays none.
Port 15 locals, North,west,south only 7.

Numbers can change quick with a few selection changes. Also recruits from other clubs is a bit hazy (juniors, seniors, year off etc)

16% from other clubs, 6% recruited here by AFL clubs, 32% Interstate recruits & 47% locals

Can you posted your numbers club by club, so a full comparison can be made across the 9 clubs? That would be interesting to see and prevent retro scrolling! ;)

Didn't Joe Anderson play junior footy at Sturt before being drafted? Sam Miles is a local product too :)

I don't think so and Miles is a local but wasn't in the league team Friday.

Norwood have always seemed to do that better than other clubs. My two lads both went through the Norwood development squads, they never went much further as Nwd was very keen on taking college kids over some good talent, consequently the leftover went back to junior clubs in their areas and have been good local footballers. Any way, one of my lads continued with his cricket and the other continued with his basketball.

off topic a bit but this is a bit rough as all clubs do the same things when the college lads are available. before they finish school League clubs get too see their college kids for maybe 3-4 games max before finals come round any given year. so of course they are going to pick them if they are on par with another lad who may have played all year. because they want to see if they are up to the standard.
secondly they all do preseason together so clubs know who is deserving of a spot most of the time.

personally when i went through Nwd it was the oposite and the club was actually pretty bad at getting college kids out during holidays.
