SCS without Voice at the helm really is a complete joke and disgrace to the SFC

I'm sure the choirboy Central supporters could provide some good advice on how to behave...

So, what have We done wrong lately? Come on, old son, out with it!

Last year at Unley I saw a bloke in a Central gurnsey beat and rob an elderly blind man in a wheel chair. Disgusting stuff...

Actually stole his wheelchair, and the old guy only had one arm. Disgusting character.

Great to hear South are starting to show some form and win a few games. Might have to drag myself away from local footy and have a look at the local side. Very passionate thread this one but not a lot of comment on what happened onfield rather what happened off field. How did South's reserves go?

Led for three quarters and lost by three or so goals.

Not sure if this is the right thread but on the game .....

South held on after being headed late in the game which in itself is an ecouraging sign. South did use its pace to advantage by trying to make as many contests as possible. Sturt were let down by poor disposal (which often comes from opposition pressure) into their forward fifty. The rebound from half and full back was great to see after last weeks dimal performance.

Brad Crabb had another great game, keeping Duldig kickless. Duldig was being used at times to press down the ground to provide some ruck support which did not work at all. He was blowing hard by the time he got to the stoppage and was unable to get off the ground in the contest. It would be hard to utilise a strength advantage in this scenerio. Kurtze was used a kick behind and whilst he did not have many possessions, made many contests.

Emmanual Irra was found wanting at times. Has plenty of pace but is yet to read the game yet. It will come, only 17 and only played for three years. South is finding that the midfield combo's of Liddle, Stribling, Daniel, Cross, Okeefe with Mcleod wide are getting better with each game as unit. Consistent changes of personel over the last five years have robbed the side of a consistent potent force to provide forward movement.

Up forward, Ainger does look like he has the ability to become a more than useful forward with Wundke. The fullback experiment is over I would think. Jake Veide will be under pressure this week to retain his spot, especially if the crows release Talia. I cant fault his endeavour but he is not getting enough of it. (Who is?).

From the reserves, Petre Rolfe was best for us and showed a lot. He will be very handy to come back. I thought the ommision of Nathan Lyons was harsh but team rules apply to all and showed enough to be up for selection again.

Enough of the football.

Regarding all the comments made about the important things, ground announcer, fireworks, how many Sturt supporters still wear ripples, toilets etc you are all correct. Brilliant. The club is considering taking on board the suggestion from Hooray Punt to replace all the whoha with 100 years of success in order to attract more supporters. If only we had thought of that earlier. Don't deprieve the village mate.

Comment re South supporters outnumbered on the hill, we always are because Southies sit in the stand or gather on the eastern outer, the hill has become a haven for visiting supporters, we're happy, they're happy.
Our lights are excellent as is our entertainment value as recognised by the SANFL. I enjoyed the game as an even and tough contest not much between these two sides, South better forward structure and midfield, Sturt better kicking skills.

What are you talking about. ?

I didn't like the basketball type hype after a goal and many others don't either. I uunderstand why South are trying it , I have said that .God how difficult is it .

I've always enjoyed watching footy down South (pre the new innovations). Unfortunately I can't make it this week, but I reckon my young son would've enjoyed a night with fireworks. Good luck to South trying something different (minus the announcer).

Coudn't get along to this one (had something more important to attend 8) ) so thanks to those on this thread that provided an insight to what happened on the field.

Whilst it sounds like we made hard work of it, a win is a win. Looking forward to going along next week after missing the past few weeks.

Yes a good win by the Panthers. Any win over Sturt after the beltings we have recieved in recent times, is a good one. South were all over Sturt in the 2nd and 3rd quarters when they had the opportunity to kill the game off as a contest. Unfortunately some atrocious kicking for goal by South kept Sturt in the game -in fact Sturt hit the front in the last quarter, only for South to kick a couple of late goals and hold on for a win.
Ainger and Wundke are looming as a potent forward combination as long as they can get enough supply. The mid field ,especially Liddle and Cross were very impressive; I thought Thewlis and Crabb were exceptional in defence; Crabby must have been relieved to see Chambers move on!!!
Souths committment and endeavour was a 200% improvement on last weeks debacle against West. We will need to show the same endeavour and committment , and make the most of there opportunities to be in the game against the dogs this week. 8)

it would have been an injustice for Sturt to win the game, South were the far better side. They ran the ball better and made less skill errors, just need to get a goalkicking coach. The fireworks are annoying though, at least hey have got rid of the roar after each goal.

I must admit, considering the record that he came over with (albeit in a lesser standard league, the ACT) in attack (averaging over 3 goals a game), I was very surprised to see Ainger spending time in defence in the opening rounds. Can understand to a degree that there may have been apprehension about having him and Wundke in the same area, but thought that would stretch opposition defences. He certainly looks more settled in attack.

Tried to explain that to Cambridge Clarrie on Saturday night but he seemed not to understand that......hence as soon as we walked in we walked straight up the hill. He needs to feel at home with his own.....I took the plunge !!!! ;)
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!
