Under 16s - Wednesday matches #2

Postby scott » Thu Apr 28, 2011 10:00 pm

Round 7 was played yesterday in the Under 16s. All four matches were interesting struggles, with three matches completely mirroring each other - even until three quarter time then they became blow outs. West led by one point at 3QT against the Eagles before recording a 45-point win. Norwood became the first side to genuinely push the unbeaten ladder-leaders North Adelaide, trailing by only seven points at the last change before eventually succumbing to the tune of 30 points, while Port jumped off the bottom of the table, turning a five-point half time deficit into a 50-point victory with an 8.2 to 1.1 final term. Meanwhile Glenelg overcame South in a low-scoring affair, with the three quarter time buffer of 20 points the highest of the four matches and ultimately the final margin of 13 points the lowest of the four.

West Adelaide 4.1 8.7 11.7 19.11 (125)

With two rounds to go, even undefeated North Adelaide is still not assured of a spot in the 1 v 2 grand final. North v Sturt this week is a crucial match, as a Roosters win will secure their spot, while a Double Blues win keeps their hopes alive. Norwood must beat the bottom-placed Eagles this weekend otherwise they can kiss their hopes goodbye with a final-round bye.

Round 8
Saturday, April 30
Central District v Glenelg @ Elizabeth
North Adelaide v Sturt @ Prospect
W/WT Eagles v Norwood @ Woodville
Sunday, May 1
West Adelaide v Port Magpies @ Richmond
(Bye South Adelaide)

Round 9 (final round)
Saturday, May 7
Port Magpies v W/WT Eagles @ Alberton
South Adelaide v West Adelaide @ Noarlunga
Central District v Sturt @ Elizabeth
North Adelaide v Glenelg @ Prospect
(Bye Norwood)

How and where did West's 19th goal come from? that is what everyone is trying to figure out. The timekeepers, team mangagers from both teams and the scoreboard had west scoring 18 goals and why don't the umpires check with the timekeepers about the score if they don't agree.
You have 5 people who disagree with the umpires.

Well under law 12.7 as long as they (the goal umpires) agree on the score, they are right and you are all wrong.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

You wern't there and if they looked at the tape they would find that they were in fact wrong. What is the point of the timekeepers being told to keep score and give it to the umpires at the end of games if they don't get it right. It took them at least 5 minutes after the game to come to this score. All I'm asking is where did this extra goal come from? OK. lets say that West finish 2nd and say Glenelg finshed 3rd both have the same number of wins, but West get in the final by 0.01 % which would be about 1 goal ahead of %.
