Yeah, all things considered, I thought it was a very good crowd for these 2 sides. South had a fair bit of vocal support up in the centre wing grand stand.

Your attempt at comedy HP hasn't really measured up ;) Get it, measured - ruler :D

Yes very good Maxy boy. I liked that one , I did get it though probably didn't require the explanation. ;)

Good to hear a bit of vocal support for South too , like all clubs they will increase their supporters if they win or at least show more competitiveness.

Well, I just thought with you pointing out my lack of quality content in recent posts, I suppose I just wanted to be clear with what I meant ;)

Anyway, as to not get this off track any more than we have already taken it...

It was interesting to hear Eagles CEO Chris Davies talk to us at LifeFM during the half time break and be honest and open about player payments and the struggle to keep reserves players away from cashed up country clubs - refreshing is Mr Davies.

Also average crowd at last 5 Woodville Oval games ... Eagles v South was under 1700 so there was some concern we could start the year with something below 2000.

That said the figure should have been higher than that average given it was a Sunday, the opening round, great weather, no Crows or live TV telecast .....

.... and we had the "ruler" giveway for the kids :D

Lets be fair one of those games was like the day Noah left on the ark .
it was that bad they everyone in the Grand stands for nothing ;)

With all due respects to Davies , everyone has known this for a long long time. It's hardly breaking news ,all clubs would tell you the same .

Interesting to note the average age of eagles seconds players on sunday was 19.Lots of kids playing and they showed some passion.
One young lad in Christain Grocke   ;) ( im joking here ) even had 1 crows scout very interested(true i had to tell him his name) until he was told Christians name, seems he wasnt young enough lol.

Plus seeing the 18's and seconds had to be moved around due to the injuries all grades did very well.

Actually, they don't HP, not all of them anyway. I find some clubs are reluctant to go into the finer details when being interviewd and yes, agreed, I'm sure it is common knowledge amongst the general footy public that country clubs paying more than reserves.

I guess the point I was trying to make was more of an appreciation for Chris to not only make himself available for a chat, but more that I (and I hope the LifeFM listeners who tuned in to the interview) found his honesty and willingness to provide more specific comment was refreshing and a nice change.

Was also interesting to hear Chris' thoughts on the modern day importance of the corporate dollar and the trend of naming right's sponsors taking over the ground name for the majority of league clubs. As eluded to in a Messenger article recently, it was intruiging to hear Chris mention on air that there might just be an announcement, and a different one at at, in the not too distant future for Woodville Oval.

There was some mention on here somewhere that an Aaron Kite was on the Sporting Pulse clearances page on their web site recently, but I can assure you, I walked right past the former Crow and Norwood player Aaron Kite on Sunday at Woodville Oval all decked out in WWTFC Eagles gear so I'd say the short answer is probably NO mate.

There was an 18yo Aaron Kite on Centrals' list. It might be him.

mal wrote:Score was
EG 10-11
SA 8-1
I reckon it was Nathan Rayner who had the ball between wing and half forward
He was looking for an option up forward
Justin Cicollella the mercurial one, was yelling out incessively for Rayner to kick the ball slightly backwards and sideways to himself
Raynor didnt know what to do
Several times Cicolella yelled out for a pass
Eventually Raynor short passed to I reckon it was Fitzgerald who marked
Cicolella ran up to Raynor
and
and
and
called him a good boy !
Justin your a beauty !
Great to see

Another legendary figure at the club is Ernie
Ernie was seen to be fetching the footy after goals were kicked behind the goals at the Findon end of the ground during the 2nds game

Good standard game
EG were great in the 3rd term
Poor SA could not get the ball of em for about 15 minutes, and several goals
Takeaway the 3rd qtr and the scores were SA 10-3 WWT 5-8

47 for SA only had a few touches
But looks the goods
Im tipping if he dosent play he will be IRRAplaceable

WUNDKE
Had 3 goals about halfway thru the first qtr
I did the sums at that rate he would score his 100th goal in the 2nd qtr of his 5th game at the club

WT top 3 team
SA looked better then last years team, have a good midfield

And Ernie is now a National TV star !
