This year there is a slight twist to LifeFM's interactive outreach with its listeners

We open our pre-game coverage each week with Chris Kendall's INSIDER segment discussing issues around the SANFL including Chris' weekly Sportsbeat article.

This week Chris has covered the topic of whether we are scheduling too many night games in 2011?

As Psuedo posted on the Snouts site, that Glenelg should look for the "twilight" game time slot as it's preferred marque time.

Start at 1610, and flick the lights on for the last half. Game finished by 7, home in time for tea or to go out, and still at a good time to take the kids.

This year we have 22 night matches, which in my opinion is the right balance. If we have too many night matches, then it might be harder to maintain the larger attendances night games gets. If we cut back night games, then we may end up with grounds with lights only getting 1-2 night games per year (which is already happening with Playford Alive Oval). Somewhere between 20-30 night matches per year is the ideal amount. Currently, with 4 SANFL grounds (plus Adelaide Oval) having night games, 22 is about right, which allows each club who have lights to have sufficient numbers of night games. However, if Glenelg and either Woodville or Thebarton also light up, then an increase to about 30 will be necessary to ensure each ground gets an adequate number of night matches.
