Champions League or State Game?

Postby Mr66 » Mon Nov 29, 2010 5:39 pm

With a crowded fixture looming what would you rather see
The new 'Champions League' or the traditional 'State Game'?

Much prefer the idea of the Champions League. Particularly if my club is playing. Have never had much interest in the State game (prefer State of Origin).

Whilst I enjoy the State games I think its getting a little stale in recent years and I think its time to give something else a go for a while, no reason why it cant be put on the calendar for 2012, yet I do think its important to give the Champions league concept a fair try to see what its like. It could be good for the publicity for the SANFL, it could be bad, it could make no difference at all, yet we wont know until we give it a go and find out!

I think SANFL vs VFL is pretty pointless. Much prefer proper state games (ie state of origin) but unfortunately those days are long gone :(

I voted champions league.

Could be the start of something big if its played on free to air TV.

Invite 32 teams into the Champions League - 9 SANFL, 9 WAFL, 13 VFL & GWS - play the games as a pre-season knock out comp - have the final played on the weekend prior to AFL Round 1. Sadly the SANFL/VFL or SANFL/WAFL matches have lost their significance in the past 15 years.

Doubt it
Foxtel is sponsoring the whole idea.
