fishing there barto,!!! i'm not biting, who else isn't going to be at unley next year ? i could name names but i think it isn't right just because you are fishing & more importantly unfair on the player(s), i trusted you ONCE in a pm & never ever again....i think you hate the fact that someone (doesn't have to be me) knows something before you do, perhaps you could do worse than spend time at the castle tavern & put $$$$ into your club

Re: the Tiser story, I can't help but wonder what on earth Sturt's motivation is. While the issue is still alive, it's just plain ol' airing of dirty laundry in public.

Clubs and players sort this sort of problem out behind closed doors all of the time; the only time the media gets involved is if someone (and it's usually the player) does a 'f*** you' because it's all gone horribly wrong. Unless Brant is a very odd dude psychologically (can't be persuaded one-on-one, but can be talked around once thousands of people read about the issue in the papers), you'd have to expect that this would more likely alienate him from the club than bring him back into its loving arms.

Don't all side want their players to do a full pre season ?

What detail do you have of the contracts ?

Barto is correct you details reagarding the contract are not as Barto stated "100% correct".

What they are signing on at sturt for is they cannot travel over pre season. They wont allow anyone to go away.

I appreciate clubs insisting on pre-season from most players, but I would have thought players of a certain age and/or years served might receive a bit of lenience?

The reason the club is insisting Chambers has a full pre-season is his out put over the past 2 years hasn't been what the club expected its a simple as that. They are the words from a person involved with Sturt on a Part time basis.
If the club has this view & they are paying is wages he needs to comply

I only address this to you Bayman as you seem to be making the most out of this issue....

But, what's the difference between Sturt demanding that a player do a full pre-season and a football club demanding that a player not be involved with another club over the pre-season as the Bays did with Backwell?

Which potentially raises another issue Dogwatcher.

This mining work that Chambo wants to do.
Did he find this work because Sturt were insistent on Chambo NOT playing up North in the offseason, meaning he's complied with the clubs wishes in not playing in Darwin, and now they want to stop him from working again ?.

No difference (apart from the fact Mouse was doing the preseason here while he played in Darwin) and we all know what happened with Mouse

No, just putting the scenario out there that it's possible that the club are asking him to give up the alternative employment he gained because they weren't happy with him playing football in Darwin.
A little rough on the player if that is the case I would've thought.
November 5 is a ridiculous time to start pre-season.

That's the usual time for a lot of clubs. We are starting on the 8th.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

He set his own standards too high during 2007 and 2008 if that's the case.
He was still way ahead of anyone in 2009:

21 82 48 Brant Chambers Sturt
20 47 17 Ben Warren South
11 45 21 Nick Salter Eagles
20 43 20 Joel Perry Port
22 41 23 Ruory Kirkby Glenelg
20 40 18 Sam Rowe Norwood

And to be fair this year, he missed a fair portion of matches due to injury. Add the fact that it was the lowest scoring season for goals in 42 years, so it's not hard to see why his output reduced this year.

for the record i agree with what sturt are doing as they are doing what is best for them & that should happen with every club
