Phil is doing agreat job at the eagles and yesterday i got to give a young lad a $600 voucher from Centro Arndale in the half time goal kick competition.

I believe the work we've done is also showing in an improved average attendance at Woodville this year.

Definately seems to be a clash of frequencies between the ABC guys microphones and the portable ones used at Woody oval, it happened last time we were the TV game also....maybe we will hear something from one of those infamous running sheets if we all pay attention!!! ;)
Trust the process.

Of all clubs that have heaps of "kids" and families would be Centrals .
Your area maybe younger and easier to bring them in while some clubs have way older areas and no kids.
You have a problem with club sponsorship I take it.And you don't get to any ground early? Your own ground included to hear every sponsor announced.
Sounds like you have the correct name want this changed change it at home first.Get the Dogs to stop announcing sponsors .If not stay quiet yourself!!

FYI I arrive at the ground every week just before half time in the reserves and have done so every week for the past 27 years.
I don't have a problem with club sponsors only with having my eardrums abused.

Also for your information my nickname comes from the Marx Brother of the same name, you know Groucho Harpo Chico not from my nature.

Be Quiet! I take it I'm not allowed to have an opinion and also as I stated earlier I would have much preferred free donut day to Kids day.

Hey Phil,

I for one loved to see the kids march around and found it great to hear where they were all from. Wish other clubs would follow the lead as the kids had fun.
Nice to see something done for the kids, when my boy was little we only has Aus kick at the eagles and never thought of taking him to an SANFL game.

There may have been other issues, but we have all seen them at many clubs and no club is perfect..

Keep up the good work as you never know how many of those kids may play for you in the future.

Sorry mate Early for me is getting to the ground pre the seconds game starting I have been doing that for many many years.
You can say what you like but rather than complaining online phone the club up and complain. As I said YOUR CLUB does the same thing on the microphone so why not complain to them as well.
Perhaps you would have been happy to make the small contignent of dogs kids that marched. And then lined up to cheer your boys perhaps Cry as the mean man doesn't like kids marching!!!
Now you weren't the dogs fan that caused a problem in front of the Fox stand?

You can't just reply normally and you feel the need to bold your response. Good for you. You're better than me because you get to the game before the seconds.

I am not against kids marching, my point was I would just rather watch the game and have nothing else. The other point I made was about the volume which nobody has commented on.

No I was not, I know the lad in question and it wasn't entirely his fault. The old codger who was the grandstand nazi handled the situation badly and very rudely told him he couldn't sit/stand where he has for the last few years. No explanation. Turns out it's reserved for disabled people. Here's a tip for you, how about putting a sign there saying as much and people will know and obey the sign.

Furthermore any more smart alec, nasty replies to my posts and your club will be on the receiving end of a Groucho economic boycott. I spend between $10 - $20 per week at the games on food drink etc except at Alberton & Norwood.

I am a season ticket holder with Centrals so no money for you there, I will buy my Budget in town on Friday lunchtime and bring my own food and drink from home and encourage all other Dogs supporters to do the same should the situation warrant it.

Touche
Lucky I am also a season ticket holder for the entire season.I bring my own food and drink to all games I attend .
Used to buy food from the BBQ's that clubs have don't bother anymore after dealing with Alberton and Norwood .Plus my own health issues its far better to bring my own food and drink. And like you I used to spend 10 to 20 bucks better in my pocket.
And you missed columbo's post above where he stated re the microphone.

Once again i think your saying this in the wrong area .If you want something changed contact the WWTFC .

I'll call your bluff Groucho ... make your own sandwiches and bring your own drink and save your miserly $10-$20.

Even better, instead of an economic boycott, go the whole hog and spare us from your pettiness and boycott all games.

I'll encourage all other supporters to put in the $20 per week to keep you home.

Back on topic.

Well done Eagles and well done Phil Herden on supporting your club and the SANFL ... keep it up.

OK. Thank You Mickyj for the polite response, I appreciate that and return the respect. Understand and accept the explanation re the clash of frequencies, thank you Columbo.

At this point I will concede defeat as everyone clearly seems to like all the other things that go on at games. At no time was I knocking PhilH and the excellent job he does promoting his club and trying things etc I just personally don't like all the extras, just my opinion.

No one seems to understand or respect my opinion that I think all we need is the game of footy.

My earliesr memories of being at the footy are those of not giving a stuff about the game. I used to find kids my own age and playing with them whilst my parents watched the footy. It was important for me to remain entertained otherwise my parets' day at the footy wouldn't have been a happy one, and if the castle is doing that then all well and good.

Dancing girls are very serious about what they do. They love their involvement in the game and add some colour, as well as something to watch whilst waiting for the players to take the field.

A day at the footy is a break from the normal working week, and a few beers with some BBQ is what a lot of people like, regardless of the cost. Maybe we'd all like an unfettered game of football devoid of announcers promoting the sponsors' products, but maybe we'd all like to see footy jumpers without sponsorship logos all over them as well. However, this is the 21st century, post-Crows, and unless your name is Port Adelaide, you are not able to put yor hand out to the SANFL for favours so you need to raise some money somehow.

I welcome all the "distractions" as it helps keep the game afloat.

Further to that, as long as the entertainment doesn't include hundreds of linedancers, I'm fine with it. ;)
