professional punter ''fast eddy'' was there today (staunch south man) & he informed me that ben warren will be playing his last sanfl game next week (if selected) & will retire & play for langhorne creek.......well done to ben on a great career who iirc represented the state a few years ago

Hard to find too many positives from today. Perhaps the only one being that there is now only one week left...

Far too good, you guys have a very,very good list and are in my opinion the best side we have played this year.
We have a long way to go, a young inexperienced list and in dire need of some good KPP's.
However after all that praise;
please do something about your oval it is a disgrace, as one bay supporter said to me it reminded him of Roland Garros.

yeah...maybe they should relocate to some far distant, freezing bloody cold, wind-swept location, high on a hill, bereft of trees.

This may belong in the history section, but anyway, I pondered the question to MAY-Z last week about the Noarlunga Oval southern end and how the trees have not taken hold there yet. I believe Elizabeth Oval did not have any trees surrounding it in it's early days, so I was wondering how long it took for the trees to mature, particularly at the southern end?

There may be some truth in that...

On the oval debate, Glenelg Oval hasn't been the most aesthetically pleasing surface in recent years. Has seemed to hold up pretty well though. I'm biased, but it would be hard to top Noarlunga as far as the surface goes.

...my previous comment referred to the fact that the Glenelg Oval surface currently seems to be very sparse when it comes to grass.
Any thoughts of playing first class cricket at the venue, which has been mentioned in the media , seem a long way off.

You'd be surprised at how quickly the summer grass comes out at the Bay. Even before they re-did the surface last year, end of September it looks like a scarified swamp end of October bowling green.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Stop it, stop it ... the shame, the shame of it all.

How can the club ever recover ... the grass is not green in winter!

32 goals scored yesterday so the surface must have been OK?

Correct, the grass gets killed off with the frosts, as soon as the sun gets some heat back into it shortly it will look a picture in no time.

Noarlunga looks much better because they grow winter grass on it because there is no cricket played there.
