The hard question is, in the case of a merger or demise of a club, will the SNAFL be able to relocate the refugee supporters, or do we send them to Christmas Island?

What they'd do there without Geminis or Toranas is anybodies guess.

Just push 'em all onto Garden Island, we dont want the real refugees getting their bad habits ;)

8 Teams is ideal but not sure how that can be achieved. You could still have a couple of split rounds if we wanted to give players and support staff a break. At least with no bye no teams would miss more than a week.

The SANFL appears to prefer the top 5 finals system, and how you could justify that with 8 teams I'm not sure.

Final 5 is the best method for finding the right winner. It gives advantages to the top side, as well as the top 3. Sides that want to go deep in the finals from the elimination final have to really earn it with good finals performances.

In a final 4 there is not the same levels of advantage. If it is 1 v 2 first week then there is no advantage in being 1, If it is 2 v 3 then there is no advantage in finishing 2nd.

I still maintain the bye is OK. The real question is why bother having a split round this year which gave teams 2 byes in a row and 2 weeks of in 3 etc.
