Advertiser Footy Survey

Postby Dutchy » Sun Aug 08, 2010 11:45 pm

Some good stats here, great to see over 90% of respondents still have an interest in the league. And also they % that support each club

Does anyone know if a similar survey was done in Vic and WA? It would be interesting to see the results for their respective state leagues.

Also, it seems somewhat surprising that after winning 8 flags in 10 years, Central has only 6.7% of the respondents supporting them?

Very Interesting

I have the survery results from 2008 & 2009 to compare

Strong Interest In SANFL Football
- 2008 -- 34.2%
- 2009 -- 42.6%
- 2010 -- 44.5%
( A Great Result)

Mild Interest In SANFL Football
- 2008 -- 56.1%
- 2009 -- 50.7%
- 2010 -- 49.2%
(In decline but mainly because mild interest has become strong interest)

No Interest
- 2008 -- 9.8%
- 2009 -- 6.7%
- 2010 -- 6.2%
(Another great result)

It begs the question WHY does The Advertiser point the question "Has your interest in SANFL declined?" when their OWN survey indicates it has increased substancially.

Eag 7.6 7.5 8.1
Glen 10.7 11.9 12

Remember that this survey is biased. By that I mean that it only measures the people who bothered replying.

So its not surprising that those not interested, in the main, did not respond. The split of supporters just shows that some clubs have supporteres who particiapte more keenly in surveys.

Well there are more Eagle members in 2010 than North or Central had in 2009.

Only the AFL survey done by the Murdoch press with no mention of the VFA/VFL.
Typical
That haven't put SANFL or WAFL scores in the Herald-Sun for the last 2 and a bit seasons either.

While I'd normally agree that needing to read would exclude most Central supporters from answering the survey, at best maybe mashing their paw print on the paper, Port Adelaide fans managed to respond? Maybe health services are good at the docks, literate people being made available to help the down-and-outs...

OR...

Dare I say it... maybe Port supporters stay at school longer than their northern brothers? :-)

Good to see Port and Sturt have disappointed nigh on 2 out of every 5 SANFL supporters... way to go Maggies/Blues!

Perhaps the reason Centrals has only 6.7% of respondents supporting them in this survey is because their supporters choose to read The Australian rather than The Chadvertiser
