Re: Australian Domestic Season 2016/2017

Travis Dean made a ton on debut, a ton in a Shield final, and perhaps a ton today , and perhaps a ton on debut against South Africa in the third test ?

Re: Australian International Summer

Mitchell Marsh is an excellent one day player
78 and not out off 40 balls
1238 runs at a very good average of 38.68 after todays batting performance
The bonus is that he slots in as a bowling option

Just a pity he cant transform his ODI form to Test cricket

Re: The Ashes 2017/2018

Just over a month from the first Ashes Test and our national team are just arriving home from a hit and giggle in India.

Why do CA insist on these bullshit tours right before the biggest trophy we play for?

Re: Australia Domestic Season 2017/18

Interesting to note that Travis Heads previous Sheffield Shield innings before this match was 137 not out
First class average of 34.45 before this match , a bit low, but he did start his career as a teenager
Has natural talent , potentially could be a prolific run scorer from here on

Out first ball in this match to a star bowler
Mitchell Starc is arguably the best fast bowler in Australia at this present time, and perhaps the best fast bowler in the world

JL thinks SMarsh and Bancroft are right up Renshaw's clacker....

SMarsh might get back in.

Re: The Ashes 2017/2018

Heres my opinions based on here and there historical research on Sir Donald George GOAT Bradman , and cricket of the times

The ovals in Australia in Don Bradmans playing days were bigger, hence by definition it would have been harder to score boundaries

Don Bradman scored quickly ,looks like he scored close to a run per minute in a lot of innings, teams invariably dont do that these days

The pitches were uncovered in his days, so he would have batted on some difficult sticky wickets in some innings

The question I will raise is, if the bowlers were no good in his playing days, why did he have a batting average close to double most other good batsmen of the times?

A comparison of sorts these days would be
Steve Smith averaging about 110 with the bat
Gary GOAT Lyon averaging about 10 per test wicket

Or for more of a view on how much better Bradman was in his day it would be akin to Ken farmer kicking about 200 goals in almost every season he played in the SANFL

I have only posted , with some considereable bias toward Don Bradman
We dont know if he would have been as good now, with the amount of Test cricket played , the bats, etc etc
But the undeniable fact is, anyone who averages close to twice as much as the best of the times, in any sport,in any era , is freakish

Re: Carlton

In round one against Richmond, 2018

I noticed what appeared to be patches on the back of their shorts ?
If so , this is probably not the first time this perceived tactic has taken place
The great magpie man Fos Williams had little patches sewn on the shorts of each of the Port players in a final [1950s I reckon]
The theory was that the opposition players would focus on the patches and wonder what they were, thus breaking their concentration

Re: Australian International Season 2022/23

NostraMaldamus
I gave my support to the following players in very recent times
Head when he couldnt make a run
Carey when his keeping was below standard
Green when I said we expect too much for an alllrounder , that 35 average bat and ball is what we should expect
Even this test when Warner was on 0 runs I stuck up for him and he makes 200

All 4 , who were out of form or under achieving at the time of the posts have all excelled

This predicting caper is great when you get em right
But when wrong, egg on my bum

Dont forget I'm the person who also said Steven Smith would never make it as a good player at test level
Ends up being a shocking post

Dont forget this longshot
Lightning Lance a lot of wickets Morris to play Test cricket
