Re: CH9AFL DIvision 4 2016

For Parklands based clubs it is very difficult to entice opposition clubs to the place where they drink as it usually requires getting in a car to drive 5 minutes down the road to some city pub. At away games they have to get back to the city pub and usually via home as they then have some other event to attend as well.
What a load of bollocks! What is wrong with having a beer outside the changerooms. We have played Blackfriars and Pulteney in the parklands and both clubs packed their shit up so they could get out of there as quickly as possible without any thought to having a drink with the opposition.
And as for the away games, how is that any different to any other club?
Smithfield always invites the opposition into the club after games for a 2 or 3 jugs. Away venues usually do fairly well at the bar with the Smitty supporters, as long as they stock up on the red tins.
You bloked were excellent in R1 at our ground.

Re: CH9AFL Division 5, 2016

there is a lot of mutual respect between both clubs coman for obvious reasons..we had a good day out but we are well aware how flat and ordinary we were the week before and we must be more consistent..huge game with blackfriars this week as we rate them highly and know the quality they bring to the table..

Re: Drugs, umps and other ammo's news

Accredited educational programs within footy clubs is required. Outlining drug and alcohol issues, on/off field violence issues, respect for umpires etc. Make it compulsory as part of registration requiring updating every 3_5 years. Players and club officials. Outlining the consequences to individuals and clubs. Within that, an understanding that club officials are volunteers not law enforcement, treat football clubs as a place for education not law enforcement. Understand that clubs are an excellent means of educating these young men and women, but it can't be left to few who already give as much as possible.
AFL and SANFL players sit through them on a yearly basis.

Prison Release Umpires

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/red-faces-as-convicted-murderer-and-rapist-promotes-governmentbacked-program-allowing-prerelease-prisoners-to-umpire-amateur-footy/news-story/6c65628277239d7da8b19a930231ce45

Well done to the Amateur League for this program. Shame on the Advertiser for this headline.

Re: Prison Release Umpires

Personally I think it's a great initiative. From what I understand these people are about to be released and have been through all corrective procedures put in place. People will be against it and I can see why, but a lot of people who would be against it wouldn't be educated on the processes these people undertake before being allowed to do such a thing and their opinions would be based on fear because they don't know what they are really talking about. Having people that would have a genuine passion for umpiring can't be a bad thing surely?

Re: Prison Release Umpires

If this helps someone adapt to life after serving his time then good on them. Obviously they'd only be umpiring mens senior footy, they're not going to send a convicted pedo to umpire at junior games. Whilst the league may not be privy to their crimes, there'd have to be some sort of duty of care by the prison system or parole board or whoever to ensure they're not in a position where any danger could occur.
