Re: North Melbourne

1 week from the mid season draft

North Melbourne has lost two of its key recruiters, and reportedly a third, who are “frustrated at the club over its management”.

The club confirmed on Tuesday that list boss Glenn Luff and national recruiting manager Mark Finnigan had resigned, while SEN’s Sam Edmund reported national recruiting officer Ben Birthisel also handed in his resignati

In a show solidarity with the staff who have done half the job and left mid season, Booney decided to only complete part of the word 'resignation' in his post.

If there's a good time of year to not complete a word, it's this time of year.

Re: AFL Round 14

I’ve not watched a full game of AFL footy this year, watching the first half of the Suns v Crows confirms I’m unlikely to again.

Over officiated, over coached, over hyped and very under skilled.

Rory O’Brien runs up and drops and uncontested mark, Jackson Hately stuffs a run of play by hand passing to the feet of a team mate running past.

The game is garbage.

That'd be like saying you've not seen a naked woman till you saw Roseanne Barr naked and now you never want to see another woman naked again.
Choose better.

No, I’ve attempted to watch several games this year but they’ve all turned out to be Roseanne Barr and thus I’ve found something better to do / watch.
You're right though, I've just turned on the last quarter and my eyes are now bleeding.

I did try and warn you.
Choose better.

Re: Port Adelaide 2022

How bizarre that a 19 year old wants to move back to his home state?

You always run the risk when you recruit interstate talent, you can argue all you like about it but it's a tough ask to go move interstate by yourself as a young lad, moreso if you're working in an environment that you aren't enjoying.

if he was 100% genuine about wanting to come home he wouldn't have ruled out the Crows , if not Port he would rather stay at North

He knows Adelaide are committed to Rankine and don't have the draft capital , it's fairly obvious I'd have thought.

He has no idea or no control over what Adelaide could have offered - this never came into his thinking.

Re: Port Adelaide 2022

HE may have retired from playing eight weeks ago but Robbie Gray will not be lost to Port Adelaide with the club pleased to announce he will stay at Alberton to take on a role in recruiting and list management.

During the final years of his 16-season playing career Gray expressed an interest in recruiting and list management, keeping an eye on the best young talent and spending time with National Recruiting Manager Geoff Parker and List Manager Jason Cripps.

The thee-time club best and fairest and four-time All-Australian’s new role will involve tracking the best in South Australian talent, as well as young players across the nation.

“Our List Management and Recruiting team, led by Jason Cripps, are an experienced and talented group and we look forward to Rob’s continuing contribution to the team,” said General Manager – Football, Chris Davies about Gray’s appointment.

“Rob has an eye for talent, sees the game better than most and knows what it takes to succeed at the highest level. I have no doubt he’ll be great at this too.”

Gray retired at the end of the 2022 season after 271 games and 367 goals.

He said it felt like a natural transition into recruiting.

“I’ve always been interested in recruiting and list management so I’m really grateful to get the opportunity to move into that space,” Gray said.

“I’m excited about having the chance to work with Jason, Geoff and the team to help add to the exciting talent we already have at the club.”

Gray has already started in the role, taking in the 2022 NAB AFL Draft Combine in Melbourne earlier this month.

Re: Australian International Season 2022/23

Do people on here see Smith in the same bracket as Ponting, Tendulkar and Lara?
Stats wise he certainly is but I rate the other 3 much higher.
Stats wise he certainly stacks up, and is quite impressive. The other 3 had longevity as well though (less so Lara) - Tendulkar played 200 tests, and Ponting 160 odd.

They were the top batsmen for a very long time in a reasonably strong era of test cricket... and aesthetically very pleasing to watch.
They were text book, you knew when they came to the crease that they will be there for some time.

Smith is a bit of a flash in the pan , unorthodox with an amazing eye, I think the way that Smith improved over time was brilliant, it was like no other.

Over 8000 test runs @ an average of 60 suggests he's slightly more consistent than a flash in the pan
