Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 4 - 2017

The coach does have a lid on that sort of thing and throughout the year anything like that we have dealt with in house and the playing group know that the club is not afraid to dish out their own suspensions so people learn! In this particular incident, it was a 2 person altercation so him "putting himself in that position" is a bit hard when there was an opposition player involved that was the instigator!! But either way, a 3 game suspension is absolutely beyond a joke.. Hence the reason we had a letter from salisburys coach going into our defence, the other player involved was in our defence letting the league know that there was nothing in it besides some tongue and cheek, a push and him trying to draw a free kick, also had another Salisbury player rock up to the tribunal last night in our defence once again stating that there was nothing in it and it shouldn't have been anything more than a free kick if that!! But even with all of that, the league didn't listen to a word and dished out a 3 game penalty with 3 points on top trying their absolute hardest to keep us from any sort of success this year.. If you can read, you will understand the frustration and if you have any idea about anything you will realise that if so many people from Salisbury were there for his defence that maybe it's a load of ******* crap

perhaps some context so you can at least vent correctly

The Tribunal is not the League, it is an independent group of highly qualified people appointed by the League to manage all player reports within the guidelines provided by The League

The Tribunal would not give a toss about the club involved, it looks at the report as it stands and it would be a very brave person to question these peoples integrity

In fairness to Dutchy charging 13-17 year olds is a cash grab no matter what way you try and spin it!

Maybe it's a way to deter 'troublemakers' to avoid the crowd issues that have plagued many grand finals in recent times

TBH amateur league grand finals are hardly 'family friendly' events

Guess you don't attend the Div 1 GF with the jumping castles, greyhound adoption dogs, face painters etc

The hard part is The League cant replicate the Div 1 experience x 7

You may need to go get your ears tested

I am hearing that the new coach is bringing some big sponsors and may look at trying to take a few players from his old club. Houghton will start shorter than Para Hills did this year
To be fair so they should. Not at all disgraced this year in D6 by any stretch.

Lindsay Bassani is that the guy from the news who wanted his home detention bracelet taken of so he could play football his reason was he didnt want the other players to pay him out ?
Half correct.. don't think his reasoning had anything to do with being teased, just he wasn't allowed to play with the bracelet on and from memory was being paid to play footy so wanted to play?

He should go to Greenacres

Div 5 Team of the Year i think Poorly thought out some of the players do not even play them spots and some of them players were over rated this season and did not stand out season to warrant call up into team of year

i can see 5 names that get a gig based on name only and no offense to duggan but not Captain of div 5 team

If Rance can be captain of the All Australian side, then anyone can captain a team of the year

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 6 - 2018

400 a game in Div 6, right there is whats wrong with amateur footy these days

That there is no sliding scale on the salary cap from D1 to D7 remains truly ridiculous.

That the worst performing D7 side can have a nominally equivalent value to the D1 premiers is just wrong, will force clubs to extinction and contributes to the culture that Bedge describes above.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, but D1 should have the full $4k/$500 that BLG/SFL/HFL etc. have, D2 $3,500/$450, D3 $3,000/$400, D4 $2,500/$350

and so on, so forth.

There should also be a reigning in on points to prevent D1 clubs using a higher salary cap to headhunt D5-7 juniors in the above-mentioned hypothetical.

As much as it makes sense the problem would not be the higher division clubs as a Div 6 $200 player is only worth $80 at Div 1/2 level, the issue is the poaching from outside the Adelaide Footy League, where they would now be able to offer said player $200, knowing the lower grade clubs cant match it due to a reduced salary cap

Could be the socialist coming out in me but I have the opinion that all clubs should be on an equal footing within the league and it sends a dangerous precedent if you start having different rules within the league for different clubs in their ability to recruit and retain players

Are players worth what they get paid, God no, however a player is worth what a club wants to pay for a player, so the free marketer in me says we should even look at deregulating the whole thing and abolish the points and salary cap and let the open market decide what happens. What I can guarantee is that if we open it up that there will be less clubs in the subsequent years.

Cause and affect to whatever way you go on this issue

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 7 - 2018

Something definitely needs to be sorted out as every year Div 7 has always got problems with unsettled line ups (clubs playing in Div 7). It's never ever settled of who's playing or whos folding. It's always known a few weeks before round 1 of who's playing in Div 7.

If you have a solution I am sure everyone would be happy to listen ;)

Unfortunately being the last of the A Grade Divisions you get what is left and it becomes difficult to enforce C Grade sides to play against A Grade sides

An 8 team template you have 2 choices, play everyone twice and have a 14 round season or accept that the draw will be like the AFL one and uneven

The advantage of it is it will give blokes a game who if they missed out early in the season may have disappeared and gone and played their Play Station

These are the blokes that will be getting extra game time as injuries happen and the weather gets colder and it starts to rain

It will be interesting to see how many are putting out 25 in each grade come June/July ;)

Because from the C Grade experience it starts to drop off very quickly

I like the idea but just playing devils advocate

What would the leagues stance be if late in a season teams who couldn't make b grade finals were playing short so they could play a fresh 25 and increase there chances of a 'vital win' ect

At my ripe old age of being an injured 34 year old I love the thought off playing my role in a side for 30% of a game. My body could deal with that

The League I don't think would care either way, how you go explaining to your B Graders that are playing short for the rest of the year so we can have fresh blokes for the A Grade might be more problematic

If i was a 'young' aspiring footballer (not a grandpa footballer like most of you blokes) and i was told im just a surplus un-required footballer who might get a quarter or so on the field i would leave immediately

Who pays fees, buys uniforms and boots, trains twice, invites their wife kids or relatives to see you play footy all to spend most of the afternoon on the bench

Youre all bias and lack empathy for the individual who come to your club to play footy, and believing this player is having a wonderful time & developing immensly by spending 60% of the game sitting on a bench NOT PARTICIPATING youre in my opinion delusional. Sorry :D

if you were a young aspiring player who cant find a go in a D7R team, why would you invite your missus, if you were that bad you wouldn't have a missus and your family should be ashamed to go and watch you

Great memories of playing at Houghton
I played against both Para Houghton & Banksia Park OS
One game, the creek was in full flow and you had to jump it. One bloke slipped and fell in. The farmer let his chooks out on the oval at 3/4 time
Another game, the fog was so bad, you could only see 20m in front. I was playing CHB and you would just wait for the footy to appear out of the fog. It was a very funny day and both sides enjoyed beers and laughs together after the game

Don't think TOS and WC are listed as a clash, but I thought it was the older established club has right of way and the other club has to wear an alternate? Probably wrong though.

of course you are
that was the old rule, away side wears clash now
In this case if its not listed the away side is under no obligation to change, if the home side thinks it is a clash they can raise it with The League for it to be reviewed. Obviously TOSSERS & WC didn't think it has been an issue the last few years they have played each other

That also has it's dangers and do automatically ban someone, you'd need to come in with undeniable proof I'd think - rather than banishing someone based on almost heresay,

When you have the act on video it's a pretty bloody good start.

Hell, when two people are down one end of the field in 100 metres of space and one ends up unconscious or serverely injured it's a pretty good start.

Whilst the footage was damning, there is nothing showing any events leading up to the incident. Could be a retaliation incident?

I very much do not subscribe to any two wrongs make a right view.

Its a great debate and what I am most impressed about is, the argument isn't about the penalty being too harsh but if its adequate. Shows The League has started to change the hearts and minds on what is acceptable on a footy field now days

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 6 - 2018

Top of the table clash this weekend. Rosewater vs Para Hills. Think this will be a ripper of a game. Para Hills for me!

Technically true, but WC are better IMO and are clear flag favorites.

Very tough month ahead for WC - will know more about them after they play some quality sides. 4/5 wins have come against the bottom 4.

They and them? Isn't it us and we Ramming23?

2 of those have been at Trinity and Lutherans away, which are generally tough to win at. Kicked Brahma off the park in round 1 which was by at least double by what Rosewater and Salisbury West have done who are in the top 5 and kicked the highest score comfortably than anyone else v Greenacres so far.

Brahma Lodge 38.19-247 d Greenacres 11.10-76
West Croydon 44.15-279 d Greenacres 3.2-20

32 points hardly comfortably more, lucky they kicked straight :D (although I will give you the margin was vastly bigger LOL)

The problem with making bold predictions based on early season form is you just never know who isn't playing, which can make a massive difference to each club

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 5 - 2018

Kenilworth Travelled to Smithfield last week and did what they had to do on the day.

Smithfield is an experience:
Before the B grade started they had no boundry umpire and tried to claim kenilworths boundry umpire as theirs. Then when it was challenged the Smithfield officials began abusing Kenilworth officials with profanities until they realised they were wrong. A very sheepish apology came at half time but not really good enough. The B grade started and there was a lot of niggling and late hits which one kenilworth player took offence to and started to retaliate, the scuffle simmered down and the kenilworth players life was threatened for the rest of the game. I spoke to some Smithfield players after the game and they were apologetic but unfortunately the few idiots out there give all of them a bad name. Very disappointing

The A grade game was played in better spirits and Smithfield put up a great fight. Kenilworth manged to take the win in the end.

(-|

I don't get what threatening someone with their life actually achieves on the football field, if it upsets the millennial to the extent that he/she/fluid or whatever they are identifying as that day, then they probably should look at another sport

These pad wans have no idea of how scary playing at Smithfield is really like; its a much nicer environment than in the 80's and 90's

Come on LM back me up, its not like old mate Neville is walking around - scariest looking cat I have every played against

Theres only about 8 car parks in the joint the remaining 3 quarters of the oval is school grassed area. Get the council to buy the joint for u. The school has enough ovals

Lonsdale hosted the SFL u12 carnival last Sunday, with 500+ players, add in parents and friends there would have been 1,500 people there , plenty of car parks in the oval and plenty outside in the streets

That's a Smithfield vs Elizabeth junior game mate.

Blokes that play GSFL reserves will come up against a teams that would beat D7 teams easily. Good on Mitchell Park attracting blokes to their club that they think will assist in their current position and as long as they are sticking to salary cap rules then what’s the issue? Just because people think they won’t get a kick then it’s worth slagging off on an Internet forum? if it was 3 weeks there would've been a final 5

Re: 2021 Adel Footy League - Division 3

Would the relegation pill have been easier to swallow if the question/vote was cast before the season had started.
Last time I checked, we hadn't started 2022 yet :P

I meant would it have been better if clubs had a whole years notice to get their ship in order and ensure they did everything possible to not be in the relegation positions knowing it meant they would go down an 'extra' division. If the decision for next year was made before this year started no one would have been able to have any complaints and im sure more clubs would have been onside.

That's one of the most ridiculous things I've read on here. Why would clubs be happy to be relegated regardless of how many teams will be in there division next year?

Unfortunately, before the year started the Covid case load in Australia was probably close to 0 and we had gold standard quarantine facilities that ensured it would never get into the community

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League

PAUL PUOPOLO to Virginia - Pops would have to be one of the biggest signings in recent APFL history

Maybe only Gus Bruggemann back to Mallala after flying in the SANFL, Butcher to Hamley or Ciccolella back to Hummocks are the other contenders!

Simon Feast would be another contender.

I think his AFL Premiership medals trump those other blokes you mention - in fact they probably not good enough to carry his bag 8)
