Re: The Ashes 2017/2018

Renshaw has to play. 6 Test innings on Australian soil at an average of 63. Stability at the top required. We are always going to pick an “all rounder” at 6 and it is not going to be another spinner.

Warner
Renshaw
Khawaja
Smith
Handscomb
Cartwright
Nevill
Starc
Cummins
Hazelwood
Lyon

I couldn’t fit a Marsh in.....but the selectors might.

Re: What Are You Listening To Now?

Lucky enough to be in Maui at the moment, just walked past Mick Fleetwood’s bar “Fleetwood on Front Street” and the band were indeed playing Fleetwood Mac songs. The guy on drums looked really familiar...

Yeah, it was Mick.

Re: The Ashes 2017/2018

My favourite part of any Test is when we open the bowling. I have been looking forward to Starc and Cummins in tandem for months. I have equally been looking forward to this Ashes series being the making of Renshaw as an opener.

Not friggin impressed.

Well I'll tell your missus on Saturday night that you've been leaving your sandwiches and fruit in the fridge to rot.................and sneaking off to HJ's.

If I was given HJ at lunch everyday i don't think I'd come back to work...and i'd probably go to lunch at 9.03am every day.

Re: The Ashes 2017/2018

Really enjoying watching this cricket. Being sent in and responding with only 5 wickets down in 100 overs is excellent stuff.

The late start is also a bonus. Was able to take the missus out for a late breakfast and even had time to drop her at Marion for a bit. A busy morning and never missed a ball. Wifey and junior having a nap and I'm settled in front of the screen with an ample amount of refreshments available.

Looking forward to piling on more runs and maybe a declaration with an hour or so to go to let the pace battery carve up.

The 100 or so idiots who have ignored the TDU cancellation today and mounted their bikes causing traffic chaos along their route. Police have received reports that a large group of riders is blocking North East Rd at Chain of Ponds.

From SAPOL : Please don't ride the Bupa Challenge route today! The decision to cancel due to extreme weather conditions wasn’t made lightly by organisers. There will be no facilities for riders including water, food, mechanical support, first aid, and there will be no road closures in place.

Carey - A must do place to check out in Chewang/Koh Samui is the Islander Bar . My #1 pub on the Island. Cold, no very cold beer, good pub grub, sport on multiple screens. Heaps of sports memorabilia on the walls, friendly staff, run by a Pommie Bloke. Right on the main drag about half way down, you can't miss the place.

If you are after some local food then check out Phen Siri.

Seriously good family run joint.

Re: ATCA

There's heaps of chat going on in the grade forum about ball tampering.
Just for a giggle what's the best/worst you've seen/done?

I was bowling once when the ball went to the boundary and was picked up by one of a group of vociferous locals. I could be forgiven for thinking a different ball had been returned to me. The damage done to the ball had removed any shine or potential for shine.

Our thank you waves to aforementioned rowdy mob after a wicket was taken next ball almost caused an ugly scene.

Re: Things that you rate!

Left the office around 9 and have just spent the morning taking an old English chap and his Thai wife on a tour through the Port and down around Outer Harbour, stopped for a coffee at the kiosk at Largs, came back along the beaches and back into the office around noon.

My boss' father-in-law and his wife, lovely people. He's 82, loves his cricket ( didn't enjoy the Ashes ), she's 68, Thai, loves her seafood and loves coming here for the blue swimmers and tommies ( I put her onto the tommies last trip and she can't believe how good tommies are ).

Very appreciative of the little tour and on a day like today I could think of worse things to be getting paid to do.

The semi retirement bug isn't catching on is it?

Re: The South Australian Political Landscape

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-03-06/steven-marshall-casts-early-vote-citing-busy-election-day/9518968

When I saw Marshall had voted early today, I was annoyed. I like the buzz of the polling booth on election day and It's not that difficult to vote. So many reasons for people choosing to pre-poll are BS. It also delays the results in many electorates and, in a close election, the overall decision.

The more I thought about it, though, the more it appeared a savvy political move. From my understanding, pre-polling mostly favours the Libs. By pre-polling, he's encouraging more people to do the same and vote early. What that does is legitimises pre-poll voting to people and is two less weeks for the electors to change their mind about who they're voting for.

If you think about how well the ALP campaigned in the final week of the last election, which resulted in Marshall succumbing to the pressure and telling people to "vote Labor", it's a very smart move. Furthermore, I suspect there are a couple of very big ALP announcements to come as we head into the final days, if people vote early it negates that voting sugar fix.
Marshall's voting today legitimises changing the status quo and voting early. It will be interesting to see if it has an impact.

I like voting pre-poll. Lines on election day are ******.

Also leaves Saturday free for day-drinking.

My postal vote arrived yesterday. Easy as, and I can concentrate on Day on the Green on the 17th.

Re: I need to know....

They probably cut it too short, when you think you've got the mower set right raise it a setting or two, more leaf matter = more green!
A mower has settings? Geezus you make it sound hard.
I just plug it in, press a button, walk up and down the lawn a couple of times and voila.

#lawnporn

Also a good idea to change the direction you mow from time to time. This encourages the blades to stand more upright and not have a tendency to lean a particular direction.
