Re: Hogg Division I 2017

Finals Week 2
Semi Finals
Jays Jocks 2292 def Chicken Twisties 2118
Redcans 2144 def by Cowboys 2365

Jays Jocks books his Preliminary Final against TEAM_FISH this week with a comfortable win over Chicken Twisties.

Another comfortable win in the other Semi Final will Cowboys take on Inner Sanctum this weekend, good effort from Cowboys who has come from 7th while Redcans has exited in straight sets.

Both winners this weekend will book a ticket into the HOGG Premier League for 2018.

Finals Week 3
Inner Sanctum v Cowboys
TEAM_FISH v Jays Jocks

I am tipping Inner Sanctum by 150 points and TEAM_FISH in a close on by 30 points.

Goodluck all

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 6 - 2017

. and also only had to split the games against Brama and would have finished 3rd, so I think can say the TOS could have sewn up a double chance. .
Only had to have Elizabeth kick half straight (7.17) and you lose Rd 10
Only had to have Ingle Farm kick straighter in the last quarter (3.4) and you lose Rd 12

You don't think every side has dropped games they should've/could've won?

Trinity finished where they deserved to finish, end of story. Stay safe in the US - you'll be sorely missed in the A grade over finals ;)
Had BLFC beat Salisbury West, Elizabeth, Ingle Farm x 2 and Pulteney x 2 they would have secured the first week of finals off!

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 7 - 2018

With the Winter Olympics now down and the amount of down hill skiers, oops I mean players heading to Central United I'm surprised there isn’t more talk of them on here lately? Seems to be a pattern with a cluster of these northern suburbs clubs. Blokes just bounce between them depending on potential of success.
It's a plague. Big cultural issue facing all lower leagues.

Seems to be either easy wins and a flag shot or nothing.

Having said that, Central United are a bit different, they've struggled for a while. Deserve a bit of success.
I played the majority of my juniors there (under 9's - 15's) and have a group of close mates that I played senior footy with at EP there. Two birds with one stone for me, have some fun and finish off my career at my junior club and with close mates. If there is success along the way then that is a bonus!

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 7 - 2018

Good work raiders!!!

Out of curiosity how many did clubs have on the bench in the A Grade? We went 22 in a-grade and 25 in reserves
Lonsdale went with 25 in the A grade and we went with 21. Apparently an email was sent out last night about it, the night before round 1 and the night after selection lol super organisation if true!

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 7 - 2018

The reason I ask. Is that you should agree that umpire's don't usually cop huge amounts of abuse at the higher divisions. Normally it comes from the lower divisions. Well that's how I have taken it from playing Div 7 and Div 2.
Players are probably more disciplined in the higher grades, they might say something cheeky on their way past but that's about it.

It's a hard one to judge, after half time in a close A Grade game you usually hear a bit coming from the bar area every time you penalize the home side, I can't say I cop too much shit out there by the players, it is a matter of explaining each decision and keeping it simple, if you don't pay ticky touch free kicks early it's easier to find a level of consistency throughout the game.
I umpired 1 season of Div 2 reserves at Walkerville and I didn't hear 1 bit of foul language by anyone. Whereas playing Div 7 A or B grade, I hear it constantly. Blokes need to understand that once a decision is made. Generally no matter what you say to the umpire, he / she will never change their mind .
100%, I say this to the boys all the time... why even argue/ask the question? I have never seen the umpire change his mind... get on with the game and save your breath!

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 7 - 2019

My two cents…

The concern I have is that the league is sending the wrong message out. To me, allowing the player to return after they have clearly seen the incident and know the damage it has caused, is sending a message that you can throw a punch on a Saturday and break someone’s jaw, put them out of work etc. and you will get a second chance to play in our league. Is it just me who is thinking about it like this?

Whether it is out of character for this person or not, whether it was a brain fade or whatever, allowing the player to play again provides an element of risk of them doing it again, you know another brain fade or out of character moment, it just doesn’t seem right to me.

So based on this, I would expect to see incidents like this continue to occur if that is the message the league is sending. If punching someone in the face off the ball, while he isn’t looking and breaking their jaw doesn’t warrant a life ban, then what action does one have to carry out and what damage do they have to cause to cop a life ban?

Re: 2019 AFL Grand Final - Richmond v GWS

I think I would have preferred to play Collingwood this week as GWS are unknown and can produce brilliance with the team of stars they have, plus it would be brilliant to see Eddie cry his eyes out again on GF day at the hands of the tigers.

Since starting to regain players in the 2nd half of the season, Richmond have just continued to find a way to win. Geelong gave us a hiding in round 12 and we haven’t looked back since, the system and the process that is instilled in that team is so good and is the main driver of why they are there. Look at the game on Friday night and the qualifying final 2 weeks ago, Geelong and Brisbane all over them in the 1st quarter and a half and then Richmond have that period of dominance and control the game, they basically suffocated Brisbane and Geelong in a half of footy by restricting their scoring and capitalising on their own opportunities.

If Richmond are allowed to dominate long periods of the game this week then they will win with ease, if GWS can deny that, say restrict that control of the game to a quarter or less and apply scoreboard pressure at the same time they are every chance to win. They can’t let Richmond control the game for too long or it could get ugly.

Another thing I found amusing and makes me so proud to be a tigers fan is the little influence on the game that the bigger players had on Friday night, Cotchin, Riewoldt, Dusty, Edwards, Prestia, Grimes, Nankervis all had average games by their standards and Richmond still found a way to win. Just shows how evenly spread the team is and how hard they work for each other.

JR’s tap to Dusty in the 3rd quarter was unreal and really demonstrates how far he has come in terms of doing his bit for the team, whilst he ‘played like Dave Warner’ on Friday night (his words) he does so many little unselfish things that don’t get the recognition of kicking 5 goals and taking 10 marks like Lynch, but Lynch doesn’t kick 5 and have the night he has if JR doesn’t give him the space to do so, it all adds to the system.
