Re: 2023 Elimination Final - Central District v Powerserves

The first bounce of the game gives me the shits
The ball clearly advantaged the PA ruckman whilst the CD ruckman had very little chance of possession
PA were gifted an inside 50

A Graceful win by CD in a brilliant game of football by both teams

Get rid of the bounce at all levels. There's no need for it and gets rid of at least one element of inconsistency in the game.

The AFL came out after the Finlayson incident and said that the next time this happened it would be treated harsher (Finlayson the line in the sand moment - should have been the Clarko one but they Fu*ked up there).

Re: AFL Round 9

argh ffs Underwood :-Q :-Q :-Q :-Q

how she keeps getting a game is beyond me, so many complaints every week, perhaps she should be sent to the match review panel :D

There are so many worse than her mate, don’t get sucked in by the “complaints” by the unwashed

So who are you labelling as unwashed this time? People that don't like Underwood's commentating? You are probably labelling 99.99% of the AFL viewership then as I haven't met anyone that enjoys her commentary, man or woman.

Re: What The F***

In the new home market atm, holding out hope that we can get something around 350-400m2 in Western Suburbs with a bit of a yard at least. It's much cheaper though to get a basic 3 bedroom house & land package with a tiny backyard

Semi detached cottage in Alberton just went for $780k.

https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-sa-alberton-145038172

Good luck in your search mate, hope you find the right place and the right price.

Funnily enough last week we were talking about going to that auction on Sat

Re: AFL 2024

Players like Toby Pink etc will be gone in next 12-24 months, they will continue to improve and then top up with decent players like he did with Hawthorn. Might take 5-6 years but Port and Crows not started their rebuilds yet so will be left behind the Kangas!

See my comment above.

In 5 years Davies-Uniake is 31 and one of their key pillars in 2024 will be past it.

"Port and Crows not started their rebuilds"

Adelaide have, but butchered it.

Port, what?

Sweet could not get game at his club
Soldo was behind Nank and not playing
Esava not playing at Cats
Zerk-Thatcher was getting mauled every week at Bombers.

Strategy was top up with average players who could not get a game with other clubs?

And who butchered it??

Can tell on here who just buys into whatever the media says & doesn't do any research

Re: AFL Round 18

Bedford should be 0
Torn on the Cameron one, can see how it has been classed.

The issue is the Rosas one, that should have the biggest suspension of the lot but just because he makes minimal impact it get's classed as it has. Need to fix the guidelines again. Should have an 'attempted' classification

Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League - Division 3

When was the last time Lockleys made it into D2?

Huge effort by the club

Never been i Div 2. Have come from Div 6 9 years ago.

Obviously the players and Coaching staff deserve the credit but t goes to show when you have great administrators in place the club structure becomes sustainable and the on-field success follows. Big shout out to Rob Curnow who spent a few years as their footy manager and did great things and bought in quality people.

Unless it’s changed, Matt Lucas has been the footy director since about 2020, I think curnow was/is president for a couple years

Re: 2024 AFL Grand Final

Really poor by the AFL media team, Longmire having to speak at his presser as the Lions song rings out was tough to watch.

Some of the questions asked were shocking. Last question to Longmire was a question about where he thought Parker was playing next year. Surely that question can wait until the coming week.

Then someone asked Fagan about how the last 2 premiers have missed the 8 the following year and if he had any plans or thoughts about that for the following year…. The bloke has just won a flag 30 mins prior ffs

It's a salary dump, we have plenty of cap space. He's on 400k for his last year which would be well below average wage now. He won't (i hope) play AFL, strengthens the ressies so meh. If it's given us an extra pick by taking his salary then so be it

Where do you expect it to be marketed? It has been advertised/promoted on the cricket socials.

MT- it starts on a Monday because it's a public holiday in Melbourne tomorrow for the Melbourne Cup.

I havent seen anything on the socials tbh, not sure how often Cricket Aus is coming up in my feed atm, probably not much by the looks of it. Only things I have seen cricket wise is from Fox on FB & Twitter about the Aus A game, the discussion on the openers & NZ/India series

Re: Australian Tour to Sri Lanka - Jan 2025

So assuming they do line up as:
Usman, Konstas, Marnus, Smith, Head, Webster, Carey, Starc, Lyon, Boland, Kuhnemann

That means the 16 man squad has 3 spare bats:
Inglis, Connelly and McSweeney.

And two spare bowlers:
Abbott and Murphy.

For years we had squads that would have 1 spare bat and 4 bowlers.

Is this a shift in thinking from the selectors?
Or more so just a realisation they need to start giving these upcoming bats a bit of exposure, and the bowlers not so much given Cummins and Hazlewood aren't on tour so the ones picked are already the 'next in line' so to speak?

Being a 2 test series & on spin friendly wickets, probably not a huge need to have extra quicks in the squad for this tour.

Re: AFL 2025

If going to do it at this time of the year, the oppo needs to be different. Either a state team or combined best of the rest or something - no point playing a club team in the pre-season - Longmuir admitting they didnt want to show any types of game plans just makes a mockery of the match (exhibition i know) Fremantle have a game plan

Re: Adelaide

Adelaide has finalised its leadership group for 2025 with Jordan Dawson to enter his third season as captain.

The two-time Club Champion and All-Australian midfielder will be joined by fellow Malcolm Blight Medallists Ben Keays and Reilly O’Brien, as well as Darcy Fogarty and Alex Neal-Bullen as vice captains in the five-man leadership group.

Seems a notable omission or two from last year.

I really don't get the ANB hype, at all.

Just because you were lucky enough to be a role player in a premiership side, does not make you a leader.

I'm the same. He's a good bit player but not going to make Adelaide exponentially better IMO.

Might tell you more about the 'leaders' they had last year rathar than ANB

Re: AFL Round 2 2025

Voss is out of his depth as the main coach.

Jury is still out but I think he’s very capable in the role.
He does need a proven experienced assistant though.
Our assistants have been there too long with no real rotation through there.

I’m not throwing the towel in yet as it’s a long season but we can’t stick with the same 22 currently.
Changes:
Docherty out(don’t care where just out)
SOS down back
McGovern on the wing or half forward
Harry to start in the ruck and TDK at FF(until Pittonet is back)
Charlie to come up to CHF with McGovern
Young Moir to come in(showed glimpses in the 2 games he played late last year)
Pittonet is injured but must come straight back in to allow TDK more time forward
Durdin injured currently but must play all year to see if he’s up to it(jury is out on him)
Keep persisting with Motlop even throw him at centre bounces occasionally.

There’s not a lot in the VFL side to come in but there’s enough talent in the team currently to be pushing for finals.

TDK needs to ruck. Top 10 player in the comp IMO - will likely be the highest paid player in the comp at end of this year

Re: AFL 2025

Eddie just announced on footy classified, next year to look like

Preseason state of origin SA, Vic, WA & Indigenous All stars in group 1. NT, Qld, NSW & Tassie in group 2.
Round 1, all Vic teams play in Melbourne & local derby's in SA, WA, NSW & Qld.
Mini gather rounds in Qld & NSW sometime instead of the current opening round crap
Women's International vs Ireland sometime
AFL GF to be played on the 2nd week in October (does that clash with Bathurst?)
NFL game on pre finals bye weekend (I think that's what he said)

There might have been one other thing

Jesus, footy already starting earlier than ever and now want to encroach two weeks into October. Not long away from football being a 10 month a year sport.

Crazy to think local leagues will be finishing up in the mid / 3rd week of September and the AFL will still be going for almost a month afterwards.

Have fun with that cricket.

The season would start later - think he said start of April. They want to avoid the F1 & without saying it possibly the shield final too
